Of all the complaints I've heard today about Benedict XVI is his freaking choice of name. Jesus, at least he didn't pick Callixtus!

3. I'm hoping that's a signal that he won't be a complete reactionary douche.
I'm trying to find some good news out of the choice.

5. Yeah lemme tell you though
I may not like him but its not true that he got his ultraconservative views from the nazis, during the 60's, he was one of the more liberals, however he grew more conservative witnessing marxist influenced students in the 60's. That wouldnt drive me mad right but, different things for different people.

11. Benedict will only be around for a few years.
And unlike John Paul II, if he lives well into his 80's, I think Benedict will retire rather than hang around. Benedict doesn't strike me as the same kind of doggedly determined that JPII was in staying in office.

6. My mom was wondering if God is not happy with the choice
There was a tornado warning in Minnesota earlier today, but it only involved POPE County. She thinks it could be a sign. (BTW, Mom was joking, she's not that nutty.)
