I just came up with the most heinous idea. And I want to share it.
I saw in another forum the thread title "Death of a Princess" and my first thought was, "Yeah - that's what they should do! When a Pope is elected, they should execute all the princes!"

It's so Viking-ish, or Japanese Samurai-ish, or Egyptian, like burying all the workers and priests or whatever into the tomb with the pharaoh.

All the princes go into the hut or whatever the hell it is they go into to do their voting...but only one comes out!

2. Well, I wasn't thinking so much a battle royal for the Popedom
just that the "princes" should all be executed as a sign of solidarity or something, like the Egyptians and Vikings and Chinese used to do.

But a battle Royal would also be pretty cool.

Give each "prince" a sword and put 'em in the room and let 'em have at it.

3. Like in Highlander -- "There can be only ONE!"
After all, Jesus once said that he came to bring not peace, but a sword.

Ya never know.

Especially me.

4. Yeah! Popes should be not only good theologians, but good warriors!

The Warrior Pope, who defends the Word with both sanction and sword!

Imagine the Pope lopping off the heads of world leaders (or Cardinals, or Bishops, or anyhone in the Papal chambers) with whom he disagrees.

5. Kind of like the Wizard Wrestling Foundation?
That's an LOTR reference.

(I was planning to add an illustration, but I just saw my first sketch of Gandalf/Saruman slash--off to the brain bleach.)
