3. are they going to put you to sleep for it? |
A friend of mine had one recently, they put him to sleep.. he didn't feel a thing. His only complaint was after they brought him back to the outpatient unit and woke up, he couldn't control his farts. I guess he wasn't too humiliated by it though.. he said everyone else was farting too.

4. the thing I look forward to when I get my colonoscopies |
(I have bad crohn's so I get them a lot) is to, after the colonoscopy, just eat one type of food item for the like the first 12 hours and so you know, when you have your first movement after the colonoscopy what that food item looks like fully digested and excreted, none of this usual 'all your food mixed together, never knowing what looks like what.' Once, before I became a vegetarian... all I ate were Whoppers for like 12 hours after my colonoscopy... no fries, no nothing except Whoppers... man did I find out what Whopper Doo looked like!

I want chicken soup!
And yes, they will give me a sedative - I had first one 5 years ago and woke up in middle of exam and saw the pink insides - was a Radiologic Tech so sort of knew what I was seeing ...

22. I Have the Paradoxical Reaction to Versed (Twilight Sleep) |
which means it doesn't work at all on me, which means I've had every goddamn colonoscopy WIDE AWAKE and whooooo boy do they hurt. Had my kidney biopsy under Versed - that is, unsedated - as well, and it was a lot less painful that a colonoscopy.

17. Cystoscopies are even worse- |
that's were they run/ram a camera thru your pee-hole to the bladder- i had one a couple years back, and they found and removed a cancerous growth. I've had three more since then, one of them in the dr's office with just a local antistethic- then he came at me with something that looked like a clarinet with a tongue...when he started using that puppy...well...my wife said that she could hear me scream in the waiting room- from now on, i'll only have the procedure with the 'twilight' kind of antistethic... next time i'll tell you about the two different times that i have had to have injections in my...EYE.

21. I'm Having a URS in Two Weeks |
That's a super-cystoscopy; they're running the camera, a laser and a basket up the urethra, through the bladder, through the ureter and deep into my left kidney to get the staghorn stone that's forming and has been causing 10 months of chronic kidney infections. Once the stone is broken up and dragged out, they'll leave a stent in the ureter, attached to a string that hangs out the urethra, for a week.

23. Well it may be too late to mention a tip from a nurse friend...... |
we all know that Fleet stuff is the pits. (Not mentioning bodily functions) It can make some people a little on the raw side if you get my drift. She recommended using some Vasoline to protect those delicate tissues from the constant action brought on by Fleet & tp which irritates. Take it from me her advice was right. I've had 6 from my 30's to 2 yrs ago.
