What happened to views?

I haven't been here all week, was on vacation up north.

1. Admins determined view was part of the problem

with getting error messages "cannot connect to database". Look in the archives, you'll see a ton of threads about it.

So they did away with views for the time being. Also, I think Skinner said looks like they may need a server upgrade.

2. Was it cool? Good time I hope. Hardly been on site myself.

Can not keep my PC on line. Hell on doing family history and I paid good money for some programs and can not use them. I fould myself yelling at this thing like it was real. I have gone mad.

8. Mexico wasn't a vacation

it was a study program. (stop laughing!) I didn't go with my family either there... but hey, vacations rock!

4. We turned off the views function.

We thought it might be contributing to our server problems.

But it might not be gone forever. We're going to monitor the site for the next few days. We might be able to turn the views function back on.

11. I've already gone on record in favor of Views

but as a captioner, I like to see how many possible "reads" (100-150 usually)
which means the captioning is worth my while. Whereas when see only 4-6
Replies, I think it may not be worth it. So, selfishly, I'd like to see the Views
(and if it came to a choice with Ratings, I'd pick Views) reestablished if
possible.

I don't recall ever seeing such a function at DU.
