I work for a termite company. It is swarm season, and we're swamped taking care of our regular customers and checking out houses where swarms have been spotted. Today I got a phone call from a woman wanting to know if she had a contract with our company. I looked it up on the computer and found we'd done a treatment on the house seven years ago. But the contract hadn't been kept up. (A termite contract is good for one year only, and must be renewed annually) The woman went ballistic on me, saying it was horrible we hadn't come evey year and sent her a bill. I asked why she hadn't responded to phone messages and letters asking if she wanted to renew. She said we hadn't notified her, and anyway we should come 'every year whether we tell you to or not'. I got a bit hot when she called us scam artists and said, "I think it would be a scam to just go to a house without permission and do a termite inspection without asking." She hung up.
People who don't respond to calls and reminder letters have only themselves to blame, but of course they blame us. Probably a Republican.
Rant over. Thanks for listening.

1. Sorry for her...its a real pain in the ass, but she had a chance.... |

And I'm sure the company at least tried to get in touch with her to offer her more service. Hell, its in their financial interests.

a lot of our business comes from termite customers renewing their contracts year after year. And yes, if a termite swarm does appear at one of regular customer's homes, we go and treat it right away, for no extra money-we take our warranty seriously.

was very reasonable. I would not like any company to take it upon themselves to just do something.
She was wrong.

don't live in NW Arkansas or you didn't respond to the letter I sent or the call I made (or your contract isn't due yet!):)

It's a republican world. There is no right or wrong, just whatever you can get away with. Of course you should just show up at her house, and do the work. That way she doesn't have to pay. Thats how those types can afford to pay for their bush govt.
