him and give him a big hug. He is so amazing and such a nice guy but his brother, Future Man talked to me for about 20 minutes about all kinds of interesting ideas he has for his music. A VERY cool guy.

That's like saying that hot dogs are better than lobster.
For the record, I like hot dogs.

;)
I love Bela Fleck and all things flecktone, but Beck has been my favorite artist for a long time. He's much more than "Loser".

I'm a big fan of Beck. I guess I'm just biased in the favor of jazz.

22. The truest purest guitar master of ALL time |
|
Jeff Beck.
He just OWNS that instrument--all parts of it, tone, volume, left-hand, right-hand.
If he ever goes on tour again (especially with Jennifer Batten as 2nd guitar) do yourself a favor and check that out.

someone else who likes Jeff Beck! I've been lucky, seen him three times...
The version of "Morning Dew" he did is the best song he and Rod Stewart ever did, in my opinion...

is probably the best thing Rod Stewart has ever done. Alhough I'm not sure if there is a bad version of that song--the Allmans kill on that one as well!

24. As a long-time banjo picker, Bela's one of my favorites |
|
But I gotta say it. When he named an album "Drive" I just about lost it. Bela is a beautiful player, incredibly inventive, dazzling technique, but when it comes to bluegrass, the boy just ain't got no "drive." (That's a term of art among bluegrassers.) He can't drive it like J.D. Crowe; he can't bounce it like Allen Shelton. He plays incredibly well, and I love his playing, but drive? Nope.
I loved his work with New Grass Revival. But Sam Bush had the drive in that band. And John Cowan on bass. THEY drove it.

Have you seen "Music Is The Weapon," the documentary about Fela? A must-see, if you haven't.
Antibalas and Nomo are two groups who honor him with their music and politics. I see them whenever I can. If I didn't have a bad cold, I would have seen Nomo Thursday and/or tonight.
