Sometimes I really hate my school. |
|
Okay, let MiniAmandaRuth here elaborate.
In my middle school, we started out that we could sit only at the tables specified by our teachers. Thanks to our manners at the recent field trip, or teachers decided to let us sit where ever we want.
I was gone at Take Your Child To Work Day on Thursday, and when I get back today...
We're back sitting at assigned tables.
It turns out, some kids got the bright idea to throw food at some teachers. The usual punks, trouble makers, and idiot/losers/early fathers. So, our principal yells at them out in the hall. Do they get lunch detention? No. Do they get after school detention? No. Do they get in house suspension or any type of suspension? No.
Instead, all of us got punished.
We had to write down on a little slip of paper which table we sat at and where exactly we sat. Here's what I put down after my name:
So, in the real world, if you do something like that, you get fired or sent to jail or community service. In here, all of us, good and bad, get punished. Gee, thanks for setting an example.
Just wanted to tell you what was happening.

2. Collective punishment does not always work the way it is intended. |

4. That's awful to punish all of you |
|
Sadly, so many schools are run like prisons, with all the compassion and forethought to the future that prisons offer.
The good news here is this: you KNOW it's bullshit. You recognized, and you can point it out for what it is. KNOWING that it's bullshit, and that it's always going to be bullshit, you've already won, and you will do well throughout the rest of your schooling. It's the idiots who don't care enough to know that it's bullshit who are gonna end up as early father/mothers and working on an assembly line trying to make ends meet in some sloppy shithole of a house overrun with children because they can't stop rutting; or they end up as assholes who go to second- and third-tier colleges to get a degree in business and work in insurance or as an "independant broker" and coach baseball and soccer for their kids and makes their kids lives hell. Or any other manner of shitty lives that buck to authority, worship authority, or otherwise feel they have to play in the game (house, car, boat, trophy spouse, kids to show of to their friends, all that bullshit) entirely.
So, anyway, your situation sucks, yes. But, you HAVE already won the game, because you are smart enough to have withdrawn from it and leave them behind.
You will do well!

a school not in our district is nicknamed the prison school because it freakin' looks like one. Secondly, thanks. I am ahead of my game. Half the people I hate are like the people you described. Stupid rednecks. Ha ha, how I laugh at you!

9. And the most delicious laughter will be at your ten year reunion |
|
when you've done something interesting and wonderful with your life, and they're stuck in miserable relationships that were founded on nothing more than looks and sex, and miserable jobs because they realized, once they got to their shitty colleges, that, gosh, having some intelligence and interest in learning and curiosity about the world actually ARE important, and now they won't be able to do anything cool like they thought they could because they're too goddamned behind intellectually and emotionally. So they study business, or history, or some other bullshit thing that they can slide through on a lick and a prayer and then go work for their dads or get stuck at third-tier management level with the realization that they will never move up because they're too stupid.
And then, at the twenty year reunion, it's even better.
Trust me.

|
I, er, as Clinton said, feel your pain.;)
I had some fun with it and started my own underground pamphleteering operation.
Good luck trying to get the admins to override this. Being nice helps, but sometimes they just don't give a care.x(
