1. I read it, and I'm familiar with Hagee... |
|
...he's not exactly an easy-going guy.
I have his book "The Seven Secrets." There's actually some good, common-sense stuff in it.
I'd never send him money, though.

9. Basically "Psychology 101"... |
|
BUT...everything in the book is framed in true fundamentalism, so anyone uncomfortable with that would be unlikely to wade through it. If they DID, they'd possibly dismiss what he has to say as pop psychology or psychobabble.
And realize this: I'm not here as a defender of Hagee. I've seen him on TV a few times, I saw the book in the bookstore and was intrigued by its premise, and that's about it.
My conclusion...based on my own, very limited experience...is that he may very well be a crabby old bastard, but he IS NOT Jerry Falwell. He's smarter, he actually has some wisdom mixed in with the radical Christianity, and he's probably more than a lot of people are willing to deal with.
I get my information / enlightenment from a lot of different sources. I get portions of it from people I may not particularly like, respect, or agree with. I don't know where Hagee fits on that scale for me. To be honest with you, I read the book...it sits on my shelf...and I responded to this thread.
Hagee also wrote "Attack on America: New York, Jerusalem, and the Role of Terrorism in the Last Days"...and I DON'T own that one, and I DON'T read that type of book, but some people DO, and I'm sure Hagee has a cheering section for the full body of his work, for his entire philosophically layered onion.
That's the extent of my Hagee-palooza experience.

I read and listen to a bunch of different sources too, including some that are on the right side of the political spectrum. I may listen but that doesn't mean that I agree with what I hear.

4. I know nothing about Hagee |
|
I just caught him on day on tv and he pissed me off. Check out my thread on GD. At least I know how to spell his name now. It's Hagee? Do you really have to read about common sense stuff? Come on, it's common sense.

...and common sense is certainly common sense, but the way in which an author chooses to PRESENT that common sense is the key to enlightenment.
Or not.
It's all about studying the brush strokes on the canvas. It's about nuance. You get to a point in life in which you encounter very little "new" information.
But as I said in my other post in this thread, my attitude toward Hagee and my personal level of support hovers right around the "indifference" level.
There are many people selling the same message that Hagee is selling. Some of them are younger, some are more attractive, some appear in the photo on the front of their book with a nice, warm, inviting smile, and when you crack open the book, it might as well be Hagee.
And, like anything else in life, reading books by wildly divergent authors on common sense topics isn't something I have to do, it's something I do by choice, with no endorsement whatsoever to anyone else.
Peace, over, and OUT.
