A German court today ordered the retrial of a cannibal who killed and cooked a willing victim, saying his eight-and-a-half jail sentence for manslaughter was too lenient.

Armin Meiwes, 43, admitted to killing Bernd Jürgen Brandes, also 43, but the trial judge sensationally cleared him of murder when he ruled the two were simply "psychologically sick people who found each other".

The two-month trial shocked the world with its gory details of cannibalistic fetishism. Computer engineer Brandes answered an advert Meiwes had placed on the internet asking for a victim and, in March 2001, travelled by train to his timbered farmhouse in Rotenburg, central Germany.

the paper ran an ad that said "wanted, man 18-39 to be butchered" doesent the paper review each ad, because if someone had put in "wanted: Girl age 6-11, i have lots of candy" they would have pulled the ad and had the cops on him like gangbusters, and second, the cops HAD to have known beforehand, he put an ad IN THE GODDAMN PAPER FOR EVERYONE TO READ, if not the paper alerting the cops, than a concerned citizen, and they WAITED til after he was in the freezer to arrest him and third, an ad was places, and someone willingly responded to it, who am i to judge someone suicidal?

I do remember asking my mom if people were white meat or dark meat when I was about 10. She was somewhat horrified, but said "I think it's a mix." I had been thinking about chicken, and somehow turned that into thinking about people. Not that I would ever eat people...well, unless I was in a plane crash in the Andes and it came down to that.

dark meat is found in the thighs and legs of a chicken right? that's really the only muscles they use constantly, so therefore dark meat comes from an often used muscle. since most human muscles are constantly in motion, wouldn't we mostly be dark meat? or would americans be mostly white meat because we are a sedentary nation?

She's in medical school, and did the whole dissection last year. But the first person she worked on was really fat, like really fat and she said her muscles were really red, they had to work overtime. But on the cancer death, thin as a stick, the muscles weren't nearly as red.

I would think the human Breast meat would still be white, but this is all just guessing of course.

And, though Americans are very sedentary, their legs and thighs would still be dark, because even if you're lazy you gotta walk sometimes.

And too bad, this isn't a question they'd ask a Jeffery Dahmer (or other cannibals), because it would be considered "inappropriate."

i think back meat would probably be dark because we use it to keep erect while walking, good point about the legs though.

i dunno about breast meat, i think it would be dark because we raise our arms vertically to eat/drink.....and smack ourselves on the forehead occasionally.

as a weird sideline on this, i heard the poultry industry has genetically modified turkey breasts to the point that the turkeys have to be harvested early because their legs cannot support the added weight.

as for friends, ragin acadian is your friend, and that's all you need. hah. seriously, i think this is an interesting discussion, it's a bit out there, yes. but i can't imagine anyone thinking we are psycho.....we're just 'eccentric'

ah - GAYellowDawg got the answer for us (post 27) so i guess the question remains: what is slow twitch, and what is fast twitch, and does it differ per person - would an olympic sprinter have fast twitch thigh muscles, and thus dark meat, or would he have a mixture of both for walking, and sprinting? or am i just reeeeallly out there for even continuing to wonder?

30. Somehow, back in the day

I know that my grandfather's parents lived in Louisiana (speaking only French). I'm not sure how they ended up in Louisiana (my mom does though, she did geanology for years and years).

After WWII, my grandfather married my grandmother, and they moved to Port Arthur, Texas (I'm not sure if they met in Louisiana or Texas). Eventually my mom moved to Tyler, Texas met my dad and I now live in Arlington.

Most of my extended family (I only keep in touch with my mom's family) still live in the Port Arthur/Beaumont area of Texas.

25. Did anyone see that History Channel show about Cannibals

about maybe a month ago (it was a 2 hour show). They talked about cultures that eat others, and also like people that are ship wrecked and cannibalism is the only option to keep alive. It was really interesting.

This tribe in Africa that are cannibals, have a disease like a human form of mad cow, caused by eating the brain and spinal tissue of other humans. It causes the same effects that mad cow does in other cows.
