Sammy Hagar may be a dick, but that first Montrose album STILL kills.


Not a bad song on it. Sammy may have lied his ass off about having been the original choice of lead singer for Van Halen, but this album hit the ground hard and the crater STILL smokes.

2. Bad Motor Scooter
3. Space Station No. 5
4. I Don't Want It
5. Good Rockin' Tonight
6. Rock Candy
7. One Thing on My Mind
8. Make It Last

Rumor has it that Ronnie was even more of a diva than Sammy...Bay Area radio host Jeff Blazy had him play at one of the KOME events and said "You probably will never meet a better guitar player, but as a human being, he makes Atilla the Hun look like a gentleman." And yeah, Hagar's a Republican, bust so what. If you're getting your politics from Sammy Hagar, you're already beyond all hope.

It was kind of cool to hear Montrose and Hagar reunite for one track ("Leaving The Warmth Of The Womb") on 1997's "Marching To Mars," too:
