30. Ironic thing about Red Dawn is that it's actually happenned
It wasn't the commies parachuting into the midwest though, but a fascist invasion from within. And just like in the movie, "Free America" is on the coasts while the interior is occupied by the enemy.

Even the part where the Russian guy "translated" the writing on the national monument - and totally made up his own version - has been done here in the form of the corporatist whore media.

How long before the wolverines start showing up for real? I'd say one more fixed election should do it. :(

34. in the movie version
All the "good guys" are blond and their voices are white American actors

All the "bad guys" are darker and smaller (e.g., hyenas) and their voices are African American or hispanic actors.

The main villain's voice is Jeremy Irons (if I recall correctly), speaking with an exaggerated caricature gay lisp.

but didn't James Earl Jones provide the voice for Simba's father?

38. "Braveheart." RWers go nuts over this flick.
Not only does it star one of their favorite icons, Mel Gibson, but they enjoy imagining themselves as the embattled Scots versus the "effete," big-government English. Plus, it's got lots of gore and a spiffy public torture-and-execution that has become a Gibson specialty. To see how articulately and eloquently freepers will defend "Braveheart," note the following exchange from IMBD:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112573/board/nest/16581734

40. I can't believe no one mentioned "Dirty Harry" yet...
Edited on Tue Apr-26-05 04:41 AM by dicksteele
That (imho EXCELLENT) film was best known for the phrase used in one of its initial newspaper reviews:

"A fascist masterpiece"

(hey, you didn't ask for films that ONLY RWers would love!)

"The GREEN BERETS":
On a side-note....my DAD was actually doing his service on a firebase IN VIETNAM when he saw "The Green Berets"....
Since it was made as Pro-'Vietnam War' propaganda, some GENIUS thought it would be a good idea to distribute it to our troops while it was still in theatres stateside.

Everyone was pretty psyched when they heard they were getting a first-run John Wayne flic for movie night!

And then they watched it...
at night...
on a remote firebase in Vietnam...

My dad (like most of his Army buddies who were there that night) doesn't remember ANYTHING about that film,
except the ONE scene:
the scene where all the VIETCONG in the world OVERRUN the ARMY BASE!
None of them SLEPT for a goddamn week after that!

I bet the 'marketing genius' responsible is currently working for the B*SH Administration...or George Lucas.

At the end of the movie John Wayne walks on the beach with the sun setting over the ocean.

In Vietnam, the sun doesn't set over the ocean - it only rises.

47. Joe (with Peter Boyle)
Rambo, First Blood II (where John turns his wrath on commies instead of hick cops)

The Birth of a Nation (though they might object to having to read the title cards, in which case, there's...)

Gone With The Wind ("Birth of a Nation" without the guilt trip)

Walking Tall

Heartbreak Ridge (a film which tried desperately to turn Grenada into as compelling a conflict as Normandy or Iwo Jima)

Wag The Dog (a film which was supposed to be based on the aforementioned Grenada romp, which was a distraction from the bombing in Beirut; but unforgiveably used Monicagate as the launching point and, thus, botched the message to the viewer)

Storm Warning (G-Man Ronald Reagan takes on the KKK, which is depicted as nothing more than an overly aggressive street gang that beats up white folks)

Jungle Fever (a movie that would re-affirm for them that there's no good that can come of interracial dating)

Falling Down (they'd, of course, miss the point about downsizing and corporate burnout)

50. Amerika!
Edited on Tue Apr-26-05 12:00 PM by onager
I could rant about this POS for hours, even though I haven't seen it since it originally aired as a TV mini-series over 20 years ago.

Amerika makes Red Dawn look like The Battleship Potemkin.

How It Got Made: "Written" by Ben Whine...er, Stein. After YEARS of bleating, whining and caterwauling about The Lib'rul Media, Ben Stein finally got his chance from that Evil Left-Wing Komsomol that runs all the TV studios.

And THIS is what he came up with!

If you can find "Amerika," it's worth watching as a sort of Compleat Guide to right-wing Tinfoil-Hattery. The UN is shown taking over the US and forcing it into a One-World Government...mainly by sending its Dastardly U.N. Agents into...you guessed it...the public school system.

Imagine several hours of a televised Ann Coulter rant, with scenery that changes occasionally.
