Brainstorm Phrases to Replace Common Terms with Left-Spinning Labels |
|
Awkward title for a thread, I know, but here's the basic idea:
You know how Frank Luntz and his ilk created a certain term to replace the medical term "D&X?" This certain term is now enshrined in a bill outlawing the procedure it describes.
Well, how about DUers come up with terms to replace common terms, like war in Iraq, tax cut, faith-based, etc., with ones that spin left. And of course they have to be catchy, so they make it into the mainstream.
And while you're at it, maybe someone could suggest a more catchy title for this thread?
Here's a jokey sugestion for starters:
Iraq war, replace with "partial planned abomination."

1. They've already beaten us to the punch on Iraq |
|
Rather than using the proper term "War of Aggression" they are calling it a "Pre-emptive Action"

9. Au contraire! It was partially planned by PNAC in 1997 or 1998 |
|
Maybe earlier. It just wasn't planned very well or wisely.

...dosen't count. Simply saying "Invading Iraq sounds good. Send the 3ID" does not constitute a plan.

Naaaa, that won't work since it shortens to IRS. How about Grand Scale Arrogant Posturing? Mmmmmmmmm, Unconsiable Waste of Soldiers Lives?
It would be nice if we could come up with something taht shortened into a nice ACRONYM like "IDIOT" or "MORONIC". Something catchy and easy to use.

17. Wait a minute! You may have something there with IRS |
|
It's something conservatives really, really, viscerally hate, the thing those three letters convey. My brain is not working quite so well today, but think of something Iraq RS. Imagine FOX anchors referring to "President Bush's IRS strategy" over and over and over.

14. How about Repubyeuchhh!an party |
|
It has to be done very subtly, though, almost subliminally, and only in speech. Every Democrat should pronounce it this way, as though they just have a little pronunciation tic. Best if there's a nice little trilling Mad Magazine style yeuchh! in the middle.

15. "Unabashed Conservative" |
|
One thing I really dislike is when a liberal is referred to as an "unabashed liberal" as if being a liberal is something that an apology is needed for. Let's turn that one around. Because really if anyone should be apologizing, it's the unabashed conservatives.

18. Cool! Some other contrarian terms for conservatives could be... |
|
"Stone hearted hypocrites" for "bleeding heart liberals"
"Red ink Republicans" or "Charge-and-spend Conservatives" for "Tax-and-Spend Liberals" (someone else here thought of those)
my favorite: Call the Crawford spread the "Lazy W" Ranch.
