Do you believe that certain bumperstickers cause harm?
I know people who wouldn't dare put certain bumper stickers on their cars because they're afraid of a negative reaction. And we live in Massachusetts!

I guess I don't feel that way--I believe we have the right to put whatever bumperstickers we want on our personal vehicles, and that we should not fear retaliation for something we believe in. I mean, I don't attack conservatives who have "rapture" stickers, or John 16:5 (or whatever it is) stickers, or W stickers--why should they attack me for anything I have to say?

Of course, I do know it happens, but if there are dickwads out there, they're out there regardless, and my personal opinion shouldn't have any bearing on their actions. Unless they're idiots or stupid assholes.

I suppose the answer to this could be "iffy" in red states where there are far more vocal and nasty pukes, but in Massachusetts, for crying out loud?

2. My husband
won't allow me to put my DU bumpersticker on his car.

We live in Indiana and he is scared of someone hurting his baby. Worse still, it's an apt complex, so we have tons of people by our car everyday. :(

4. I hear ya
We lived in Indiana (my husband grew up there, I lived there for two years) and I have to say, I was much more concerned for my car when it was there than I am here (CT).

11. I've only lived here 16 months...
he grew up going back and forth between Indiana and Michigan. I've been here long enough to understand though, that liberal bumperstickers are most likely a no no in areas where people are by your car everyday.

I hate friggin Indiana sometimes.

3. The sad truth is that is liberals won't beat up conservatives
for expressing their opinions.

But some republicans/freeps/assholes WILL gleefully beat up, harass, swear at, etc. a liberal for expressing an opinion.

So, you'll never see someone beat up for having a Jesus Fish. But you WILL see someone beat up by a good Christian for having a Darwin fish.

You'll never see someone beat up or harassed for having a Shitweasel/Cheney '04 bumpersticker, but you WILL see someone beat up for having a Kerry sticker.

You'll never see someone beat up for having an "abortion is murder" bumpersticker, but you WILL see someone beat up for having a "pro-choice" bumpersticker.

That's the sad truth. The Right use bullying and violence and fear as their tactics.

9. Oh, sure, not to say we won't defend,
or that the republican will succeed in beating us up. :-)

But you'll damned rarely come across a spat that was started by the liberal.

14. We Will Rarely See the Liberal Start it
I think that one of the reasons that the righties are so emboldened is that so many liberal people were silent in the days following 9/11 while the conservatives were cashing in.

I had a good laugh last year when a young rightie told me not to discuss politics with him because he was a michael weiner fan. He was so shocked to see a liberal who didn't cringe because he snarled.

I do not advocate violence. In fact my wife and I raise our son to NOT be violent. I do, however believe that we have to sho the righties that we're just as willing to "get in your face" as they are. Too few liberals realize that this is the "holy war" that pat buchannan threatened in '92.

8. I drive all over the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
My bumperstickers are a DU one, one that says "Hatred is not a family value" and "Bush lies, people die, how many lies can YOU take?"

Oh also an HRC sticker, but I don't think most people know what it is.

I'm feeling the need to change them out. Something new.

13. I just don't get the whole "damage the car because you don't agree
with a bumper sticker" thing. WTF? Are these people 10 years old? Are they that threatened by free speech? I see bumper stickers every day that I want to fuck with, but I never would because it is someone else's property and they can do what they want.

Why should a freeper give a rat's ass about my bumper sticker? By the way, I would love to catch some cowardly freeper messing with my car.
