What was the #1 song the day you were born?
On mine, it was "The Chimpmunk Song" by the Chimpmonks in the US and "It's Only Make Believe" by Conway Twitty in the UK.

8. In 1814 we took a little trip
along with Col. Jackson down the Mighty Mississip
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans
And we fought the bloody British in a town called New Orleans

The fact that I remember ALL the lyrics (and there's much more, including the alligator cannon) tells you it was a catchy tune. Queen Elizabeth II was visiting Eisenhower and there was some controversy over playing the tune while she was here.

song was by Johnny Horton

6. John Brown's Body is a Mouldrin' in the Grave
or it could be-I was born before the lists started to be compiled. Hate to say it, but I remember listening to the Chipmonk Song when I was a kid-even slowed the record down to 16 so I could hear what the singers really sounded like.

14. Like a barbershop quartet
there was a tenor and two baritones, as I recall. Gave the impression of clean-cut singing, which I associate with barbershop music (pun intended).
