5. I, in fact, survived a botched abortion in the early '60s

Due to the malevolence and incompetence of the doctor, my head was severed during the partial birth from my body, and but was re-attached in a 15 hour procedure by a nun that had spent the night at a Courtyard by Marriott's; that stay made the nun extra smart. She was none other than the soon to be sainted Mother Theresa. Despite this miracle surgery, it has taken me a lifetime to come to grips with my physical condition (tall and fat), and as an unfortunate result of the head-severing incident, my soul was separated from my body, turning me into a Democrat who puts inordinate emphasis on Our Savior's teachings of love and understanding, completely disregarding the illogical claptrap of organized religion. As I was born into a Presbyterian family, this is probably all for the best.

People whose cousin's friends uncle's in-laws won some Polk awards at a time when I was alive and recovering from my partial birth abortion severed head. I never lie! NEVER!!! I am the last honest man on cable television and I'm fighting for you, so shut the f*** up! I loved your dead father more than you. Rush can pop as many pills as he wants without recrimination because he is not only my competitor, but because he is superhuman and has multi-million dollar morality booster thingys: like a hundred thousand UnderDog Super Energy Pills. Only Rush doesn't keep them in a ring! No, he keeps them in a tea strainer shoved up his ass!!! AL FRANKEN is the anti-Christ!

Are you people the kind of sick bastards that think that a partial birth poster child born without a head is something people might joke about? People who think that (or anything different than me) hate America and should leave the country! It's time to stop spinning people! 11. Stories of women who survived abortions
This isn't funnny to laugh at.

My name is Gianna Jessen. I am 19 years of age. I am originally from California, but now reside in Franklin, Tennessee. I am adopted. I have cerebral palsy. My biological mother was 17 years old and seven and one-half months pregnant when she made the decision to have a saline abortion. I am the person she aborted. I lived instead of died.

Fortunately for me the abortionist was not in the clinic when I arrived alive, instead of dead, at 6:00 a.m. on the morning of April 6, 1977. I was early, my death was not expected to be seen until about 9 a.m., when he would probably be arriving for his office hours. I am sure I would not be here today if the abortionist would have been in the clinic as his job is to take life, not sustain it. Some have said I am a "botched abortion", a result of a job not well done.

Source: http://www.abortionfacts.com/survivors/giannajessen.asp

"Twenty-nine years ago, my mother decided to have an abortion. At the time, she was pregnant with twins, but nobody knew this, not even her doctor. My tiny brother and I were both there growing in her womb, until that dreadful day. Before the abortion, we were both alive. Moments later, I was alone.

It's frightening to think I was almost aborted when my mom had a D&C abortion. Somehow, miraculously, I survived! My twin brother wasn't so lucky. Andrew was aborted and we lost him forever.

Several weeks later, my mother was shocked to feel me kicking in her womb. She already had five children and she knew what it felt like when a baby kicked in the womb. She instantly knew that somehow she was still pregnant. She went back to the doctor and told him she was still pregnant...that she had made a big mistake and that she wanted to keep this baby.

Source: http://www.prolife.com/SARAH2.html
============================================

I am pro-choice and support a woman's right to choose. But there really are horror stories of babies who have survived abortions. And they have had problems.

This isn't something to laugh about it. It really isn't.

14. Stories are something to laugh at if it pleases one
because they are just stories. Fictions. You can tell they are lies because these supposed "survivors" would have no memories as they WERE INFANTS. Nor are these stories from reputable sources had they been told by the adults involved: they are from propaganda sites. They are no more reliable than my stories above. They are a load of crap from crapulous liars who were in no position to know the facts that they repeat.

I, too, think that abortion is a sin. But I don't think it is illegal or especially immoral compared to other sins people commit every day. Nor do I think that I have any business forcing my morality on others.

I am tired of imbeciles who fall for this crap, who can't think their way out of a wet paper bag, who send their charitable contributions to millionaires like Falwell and Robertson instead of directly to charities that can make good use of funds. I am sick of these dumbshit, slack jawed yokels insisting that I adopt their faulty logic and accept their lies as fact. I refuse. And when they insist, I'm not going to be polite about it: I'm going to laugh in their cretinous, drooly little faces. Ha, f****** ha. And there is nothing they can do about it.

29. I've never noticed conservatism to be logically or factually based
and as a result, I don't conclude that it has any correlation to brains. That said, I can respect a conservative who wants no change because they can't wrap their mind around the arguments, but are afraid of change. I don't like it, but I can make allowances for fear of change, it is, after all, human. But liberalism is far more an appeal to logic and fact.

23. Maybe you would be best served...
finding your examples of babies who survived on reputable websites or in medical journals instead of at RIGHT-WING, PROPAGANDA-LADEN WEBSITES.

These are the same kinds of websites that say women suffer some kind of PTSD disorder after abortions (real statistics show that the overwhelming majority of women don't feel anxiety, but relief) and that say that there is a link between abortions and breast cancer (which also has been discredited in numerous studies).

My advice to you is to be a little more selective in choosing which sites to cite for stories like these.

Of course abortion is horrible, we all know that -- but ANYTHING can (and maybe should be) be joked about. As George Carlin said, if you don't think rape can be joked about, picture this:

>But there are stories of botched abortions. And to ridicule people in that situation is just crass.<

There's also stories of botched surgeries of all types, but one does not need to go to RW pro-life sites to read about them. Just in case you missed the last few posters, the "saved" babies from abortions are PROPAGANDA.

BTW, Carlos, I'm wondering: When's the last time you missed a period?

I didn't say it is child's play, and I didn't say that I think everyone should go out and experience one, but I do believe that it is a legal option that when performed leaves most women with a sense of relief, as statistics show.

No kind of surgery is "pleasant."

Child's play? WTF??

Edited on Wed Oct-22-03 11:18 PM by theemu
I've met Gianna Jessen. Yes, the Gianna Jessen whom Jiacinto cites in his post. She's not fictitious, as some have implied. A few years back, as one of the organizers of my high school's annual Issues Day (a school-sponsored debate), we decided as a class to examine the issue of abortion. On the pro-choice side, we had arguments from Sarah Weddington, who famously argued for Jane Roe in Roe v. Wade, and a Presbyterian minister who belongs to the Texas Pro-Life Council, and on the pro-life side, we had a doctor who at one point performed abortions (and who has subsequently founded a pro-life foundation) and the young, sprightly Miss Jessen. Even now after years of surgeries and intense rehabilitation, Gianna Jessen is fragile and visibly emotionally scarred from her childhood.

As Carlos said, it's nothing to laugh at. I'm pro-choice, but I think posts like I've seen on this thread are disgusting.

52. She chooses to go to those events
She's a grown woman and she's chosen to go to speak about her experiences. In fact, until she pressed her adopted mother into telling her when she was fourteen, she didn't know that she had been aborted, just that she had grown up with severe physical handicaps.

Why do you assume that she has no agency in this situation, especially when you clearly have no idea whom you're talking about?

30. No science, logic or fact is applied by the anti-abortion
crowd to any of this. There are no studies supporting their positions, no factual first hand reports, only hysterical fiction, fabricated statistics and studies and second hand reports that are so bowlderized as to be laughable.

Yeah, I'm going to laugh at my opponents in this debate, because their debating skills are a joke at the expense of thought, debate, civility and self-government.

And then their is this puling, whining, begging not to make jokes about the other side's debating skills. "please, please don't mock us! Our position is so holy that you must not joke at our pitiful efforts to prove out point. If you only assume what we are trying to prove, you won't find it funny." Enough question begging.

So when my mother went home she noticed that she was still pregnant, she called the doctor who "had been arrested for ties with al quaida/was at the voting station registering to vote liberal/committed suicide because he had such a troubled conscience"

And realized that she was gonna keep me she immediately "kneeled down to pray/became a lifelong conservative/joined the Ann Coulter Fan club"

And as far as I'm concerned, there has never been a single "abortion" survivor who remembered it. And if anyone can come up with a single "abortion survivor" who remembers it, I will kiss both their asses in the middle of the biggest street of their home town during Rush hour. Anyone who says they are a traumatized abortion survivor is a damned liar. And the fact that after 50 posts clearly explaining why there is no such person and there is still this question begging appeal to emotion indicates why anti-abortion supporters are idiots. 39. I am a circumcision survivor
When I was but a headless little partial birth abortion survivor desparately clining to life after Mother Theresa sewed my head back on, leaving me to recover while she set out for the parts of Calcutta she only visited during work hours (my God, at least she didn't seek medical care for herself there), I prepared many long soulless and Democratic years learning the dark arts of logic and documentation, I damn near forgot, that I survived a brutal practice ususally reserved to the Christ Killing Jews, namely a circumcision. That's right, I'm getting to the point: "it won't be long now." Yes, my pee pee was mutiliated by a doctor after I was already born and a real human being. But due to my extreme youth (i.e.: I was a newborn infant) I was unable to give a meaningful informed consent to this procedure. Now, maybe conservatives aren't willing to protect new born children from this hacking mess, maybe only gay men care if I'm cut or uncut (do you guys care?), but there are many infant survivors of this horrible mutilation procedure performed on us. There are many web sites with horror stories of infants remembering this on a subconcious level (I don't, but I haven't recovered these memories yet), and they are certainly existent web sites and stories told by people with an ax to grind who don't remember a damn thing. Oh, the humanity! what to do?

And this isn't something to laugh at. Laughing at the mutiliation of infant baby boys! Oh you lefty pigs! And don't be hypocrits because Rush, Savage and woman beating John Fund are circumcized and never talk about it.
