The new job is such that I can't read, per se, but I could certainly listen to books on tape. Can't afford any, however.

Anyone know of any good free sites?

Not bad for free ... I really enjoyed their reading of "Three Men in a Boat" and "Three Men on the Bummel."

Believe me, both books are much, much better and funnier than the descriptions would lead you to believe.

5. Yes!
Three Men In A Boat is soooo good and it needs to be read aloud.

6. It is one of my favorite books of all time ..
And has one of my favorite quotes:

Throw the lumber over, man! Let your boat of life be light, packed with only what you need - a homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends, worth the name, someone to love and someone to love you, a cat, a dog, and a pipe or two, enough to eat and enough to wear, and a little more than enough to drink; for thirst is a dangerous thing.

BTW, have you read Connie Willis's "To Say Nothing of the Dog"?

9. Of course I read it!
And laughed myself sick. But it wouldn't have been nearly as funny without Three Men In A Boat - especially, my favourite bit, when they meet them.

4. I just remembered these, too
If you have BitTorrent, go to http://www.kottke.org/remainder/05/03/7906.html

Here is Quirks and Quarks, a CBC science show: http://radio.cbc.ca/programs/quirks/index.html

You might also google the term "podcast," which will bring you a list of podcasting sites. From these you can find MP3's of radio shows and such. I believe even AAR has a podcast section, so you could download the programs and listen at your convenience--just don't try to call in :)

9.95 per month, try here:

http://www.easynews.com/

It's a news group portal and you can download 10 gigs a month and if you don't reach your limit, they roll over.
Lots of porn and music there too.

8. Do you have P2P?
I recently downloaded audio of Poe's Fall of the House of Usher. I don't know who read it, but there must be other stuff out there.
