Any men (or former men) here circumcision survivors?
When I was but a headless little partial birth abortion survivor desparately clining to life after Mother Theresa sewed my head back on, leaving me to recover while she set out for the parts of Calcutta she only visited during work hours (my God, at least she didn't seek medical care for herself there), I prepared many long soulless and Democratic years learning the dark arts of logic and documentation, I damn near forgot, that I survived a brutal practice ususally reserved to the Christ Killing Jews, namely a circumcision. That's right, I'm getting to the point: "it won't be long now." Yes, my pee pee was mutiliated by a doctor after I was already born and a real human being. But due to my extreme youth (i.e.: I was a newborn infant) I was unable to give a meaningful informed consent to this procedure. Now, maybe conservatives aren't willing to protect new born children from this hacking mess, maybe only gay men care if I'm cut or uncut (do you guys care?), but there are many infant survivors of this horrible mutilation procedure performed on us. There are many web sites with horror stories of infants remembering this on a subconcious level (I don't, but I haven't recovered these memories yet), and they are certainly existent web sites and stories told by people with an ax to grind who don't remember a damn thing. Oh, the humanity! what to do?

And this isn't something to laugh at. Laughing at the mutiliation of infant baby boys! Oh you lefty pigs! And don't be hypocrits because Rush, Savage and woman beating John Fund are circumcized and never talk about it.

1. No, I was spared...
Thankfully....my father made the decision (and, just for the record, it's a father's and ONLY a father's decision when dealing with circumcision) that I would not be cut. I've found it to be novel, and also something of a curse, but ultimately I feel he made the right decision.

7. my dear bull...
I don't remember much, but I do remember being asked if he was to be circumsized (sp cuz I had too many drinks) and I remember sitting straight up and saying don't you dare do that to him.

I don't know if it was a good or bad decision, but I do know that I could not let that happen to him. I hope I did good...but it is a hard thing to know if it was right or wrong. Ain't life stupid sometimes.....having your weiner clipped....being gay....being heterosexual but not aggressive, just being okay with your self....everything is wrong through the eyes of someone who has no problem letting you know. Well, he is 15 years old, second degree black belt in karate and an assitant karate instructor, mellow as the day is long, but......even though I know it will take a lot to piss him off....if he does get pissed off, he'll go after who pissed his off. Ahh probably not, he will just let is go....but maybe his mom will not *LOL*.

9. Hey,
you don't have a penis!! You don't know anything about it! It doesn't have anything to do with you!

I hope you've seen the GD abortion discussions, or this could be lost on you. It's all in good fun.

2. I agree circumcision is male mutilation and is probably the cause
of misogyny in most instances since most men probably blame their mother for mutilating their penis. I frankly think that extra layer of protection around that thing is necessary and think there would probably be fewer sex crimes and women haters if men weren't mutilated at a very young age.

8. Circumcised as an adult here...
this is the second circumcision thread here in two days...I'm shocked by the bias and ignorance displayed on DU. I've been both uncut and cut as an adult, and sexually active both ways. Getting circumcised was a blessing for me, but it took a whole bunch of begging, and ultimately a second opinion, for my doctor to agree to perform the procedure. The new cultural bias against circumcision is just as superstitious and ignorant as the bias for it. Without getting in to too much detail, having sex with foreskin attached was somewhat painful and ultimately unsatisfactory. Getting cut made it a whole lot more enjoyable, orgasms are better, and hygeine is easier.

Males are circumcised at a young age and while all of those MAY be issues for you, I really DOUBT they are for all uncircumcised males.

Secondly, my point (while admitting I was being a smart ass a bit) is that as a result of being circumcised at birth, men are sensitized down there earlier and MORESO than they would have been otherwise.

I'm unclear. If there's a study or two or a thousand, I'd be interested in lookng at them.

47. I'm certainly not in favour of ritual (non-surgical) body mods...
...of any kind. However, if my hippy-dippy parents had had me circumcised at a young age, either ritually or in a modern medical environment, it would have saved me years of discomfort. They had their own prejudices, as does the modern medical establishment. Did I mention hos I couldn'tr get my own GP to agree to the procedure because of his blanket belief that "circumcision is battery". I wonder if he'll leave my inflamed appendix in, too?

Not only do I prefer the comfort of being 'cut', but those who talk about 'trauma' at a young age, I'd rather have been cut as an infant, without anesthesia, than relive being the only nine-year-old in my gym class with an 'abnormal' (non-circumcised) penis.

I guess this is a hot-button for me, because foreskins aren't like opinions; not everybody has one.

But everybody seems to have an opinion about a person and his right to a foreskin.

Ultimately, it's up to the individual, but, given my choice, I'd like parents to do some research and make up their minds without being lobbied.

Babies are too young to really remember anything anyway. They're not really people (according to some philosophers- they can't reason). How about we say babies that are older than, say....6 months can not be circumcized (without their consent)? That'd be a good compromise.

5. Being circumcised is my earliest memory...
For some reason it didn't happen at birth but a few months later...but my first memory is off being in a crib with my peepee all bandaged and my mom and dad seeing me...they say I was eight months old at the time...but I still remember bawling when they left, and causing other babies to cry as a reult...this whole part of my life is still (can't say shrouded) a mystery to me...

Minus the pecker mutilation. I remember my room and my crib and the cileing sooo clearly...the my mother walking in with her arms out talking nicely....geuss I was crying. But then it seems next thing, I was four  I don't care what science says, I believe we all have one memory from infancy.

23. The thing is....
So, it's said that the removal decreases sensitivity a lot, right?

Like, by some horrific amount?

Well...

Is it some kind of decrease in the range of sensitivity or in its intensity? Because, if it's the latter, I can see this move away from the c-word (can't help it...makes me cringe) as potentially leaving many women terminally unsatisfied.

Consider this: a man and a woman are naked, except for their riding boots and spurs, of course (as one typically is), and about to proceed with the act of conjunctivitis. "Oh, Geoffrey, you animal...take me. Take me now!" "Oh, Lucinda. I respect you!" And so they move into position. Lucinda presses herself against Geoffrey, receptive to him, and...right then...suddenly...oh no! It was just too much for all those sensitive nerve endings. Frustrated, she looks down at him only to see that he is already asleep, a smile on his face, snoring softly as his right hand makes little remote-control-operation movements in his sleep.

Poor Lucinda! Is this really what we want?

I put it to you. Well actually, I guess I could put it to Lucinda - in her hour of need, I am there for her, proudly desensitized...

(or not...not that I'm telling, of course...)

33. Alert - Female butting in here
I realize this was started in jest. The initial post gave me a good chuckle. :D

But I am serious about this. I've always thought circumcision was a good thing. It makes hygiene much improved does it not? I used to work in a hospital and prior to that in high school I worked in a nursing home and I can't count how many cases of phimosis in uncircumcised males we had to treat. I cannot imagine why any male wouldn't want to be circumcised.

I don't understand the association with "mutilation" with the loss of foreskin either, but I'll defer to the men on that one.

37. Hmm...I've never had a problem...
...unless you count the problems of being "different" as a child.

I asked my doctor about the whole hygiene issue. (Yes, I was considering el snippo grande) He told me that as long as I bathed frequently, I should be fine. He also said that the issue of increased cancer in uncircumicised men is a canard, too.

35. One Stitch
After birth I was circumcised, clumsily. The doctor put a stitch in. It pulled out. I bled for over a day, beause the nurse never checked my diaper. My mother thought I was too quiet after we got home-checked me, my (original) diaper was full of blood. I have fainted hundreds of times in my life.

38. Fainting
Hundreds might be an exaggeration. But I lost a great deal of blood right after I was born; my first few days of life were spent bleeding to death-almost. There is no way of knowing. I have passed out at several movies-the worst was Monty Python's The Meaning of Life during the liver donor scene. I was out until the dancers with the fake tits came on. During that time I had what seemed to be an out of body experience-sensory deprivation, struggling to remember what I was. I had temporarily lost my identity. Then I remembered my age, and -zooom I was back in my seat, fully conscious. My mother was an RN; she said the loss of blood was severe, and thinks it affected me permanently. I never knew about this until a few years ago. The circumcision problem.

39. Well...
Women whose sex partners are circumcised may be less likely to get cervical cancer, a study suggests.

Cervical cancer is caused by the same virus responsible for genital warts.

The study in the New England Journal of Medicine found that men with intact foreskins were three times more likely than circumcised men to be infected with the human papillomavirus. That, in turn, may increase the risk of passing the virus on to their sex partners.

Never bothered me for a second. I was with a girl once who said she like giving head to guys who were circumcised because with a foreskin, you could never tell what was under it, or how often it was cleaned. Yeccch!

My wife and her whole family are against the idea, so when my step-daughter's son was born, he was kept intact. I have to take him to the bathroom sometimes and I worry that he's not being cleaned properly.
