If you can't grill your Nathan's Bun Length hot dog outdoors, put it in a skillet and turn the fire on. Put some water in the skillet and let it cook away. Put some butter in the skillet and brown it to your preferred degree of carbonation,
Or you can just put it on the end of a long fork and cook it directly in the flame.
While you have been doing this, toast a bun. You should already have cut up an onion (South Carolina Episcopal Chop)
When your dog is done and bun is hot, take out bun, and spread it with honey mustard. Honeycup is preferred, but if not, the tiny little jar with the unpronounceable German name will do.
Fill the bun with chopped onions, add dog
Top with kim chi, jalapeno salsa, dijonnaise, and heinz catsup. It does not matter which if any candidate you support, they make the best catsup.
Serve with sour cream and onion potato chips.

2. Have you ever had a dog from Tony Packo's.... |
|
in Toledo? That is the hot dog Klinger talked about on MASH. They are the BEST! You have them with the special hot dog sauce, mustard, and Tony Packo's pickles. Ummmmmm....a never to be forgotten experience!

The first and last name in hotdogs, also, the first outfit to get the buns/dogs ratio worked out. I used to have to buy four packages of dogs and five of buns to make it work out and Wifey says that I was consuming to much of that nitrate stuff in the process.
on edit: mustard and dill relish on a toasted bun. Steamed then fried works for me but I'll have to look into the butter browning bit.

10. Zweigles.............. |

hot dogs have Nathan's beat by a country mile. They're only available in parts of the northeast. Natural casing, plump and juicy, pop-open when you grill them. Germans have been making the best sausages for eons, sorry Nathan's fans, once you've had a Zweigles you'll never go back. Thay come in the "white" (pork) variety as well. Can't beat 'em.

I would like to try one but until then I'm stuck on the west coast with my Nathan's. My neighbor who worked at Coney Island as a kid turned me on to Nathan's, my benchmark of good hotdogs. We do have gourmet sausage manufacturers in the area, but they add strange ingredients such as lemon or apples, in the spirit of innovative California cuisine. Phooey!
Casings are a big part of a good sausage and if your Zweigles have a sheep casing there is a good chance the casing came from my town. I live in a huge sheep raising area and the business down the street processes and packages the casing for sausage that has just the right delicate pop/snap, if you know what I mean. Funny, the company did a side business of making sheep gut prophylactics (from the cecum, i.e. appendix) until the advent of aids which killed their business because the virus travels through the sheep guts rendering them usless against aids protection.

Chris Heinz, if your lurking tonight, I'm sorry.
No one over the age of 10 should put ketchup on a hot dog. It's just not right! And, while I'm making up rules, the mustard should be stadium-style yellow mustard.
