I'm buying a 2005 Hyundai Elantra tomorrow |
|
A red GSL 5 door. Five star safety rating. Beautiful little hatchback. Twenty-seven miles in the city, 32 on the highway. Great warranty. Anybody have any experience with them?

4. I've got no problems with Toyota |
|
but the Hyundai beats their price and safety rating as far as I can tell.

5. I meant check out their forums for owners of specific models |
|
I should have been clearer in my other post. Anyways here's a link to the page for the Hyundai Elantra: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/ViewModelDetail/make=Hyundai/model=Elantra- On the right there's a link to the forums with topics such as Buying Experience, Ownership Problems, etc

If so, I would strongly urge you to reconsider. Buying a new car is like throwing thousands and thousands of dollars away due to the immediate depreciation that occurs when you drive it off of the lot. Plus, you end up paying years of interest on those thousands of dollars that you are throwing down the toilet (assuming you are financing the purchase).
It is much smarter to find a really nice two year old car for sale by an individual. You could easily end up saving yourself a good $10,000, and get a car that will last as long as most people keep a new one. Just think what you could do with all of that money!
New cars are a horrid rip-off.

I bought my last car used. Then I replaced the brakes, then the transmission, then $500 to fix the air conditioner. In the first year, I paid as much in repair costs as I paid to purchase the car.

9. I know about a dozen people who bought Hyundais... |
|
since the quality went up and they started giving that 100,000 mile warranty.
Every one of them is perfectly satisfied, and will probably buy another one.

My friend bought two for her kids. They've never had one problem with them.

My ex has one, runs great never breaks down she's driven it from Oakland to Portland OR several times. I too agree that buying late model used is generally a good idea....except if you are buying a new Hyundai. Just do required maintenance and you are set for years. PS I have two Santa Fe's. I will trade up for the better mileage Tucson, when XM is Standard on all Hyundai's in about 18 months
