Microwaved Eggs Can Cause Eye Injuries in Kid
I found this very interesting. Sounded like an urban legend to me at first, but I guess kids should know:

don't poke microwaved eggs with a fork.

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/news/fullstory_24331.html

who microwaves eggs? I never even considered it, yet "16 percent of childhood injuries from microwaves occur from exploding eggs or other types of food."

I am waiting to get this in a mass email soon from my ever vigilant great-uncle...he's always looking out for my safety.

(I may think this is silly, but I do feel sorry for the kids in the story)

1. We've got a microwave egg poacher.
I don't use it myself but some do.

2. don't you crack them into it?
I just never even thought about putting an egg, whole, into the microwave. I boil them, I must be dense to have never thought of using that newfangled device! I would think they'd explode inside the mw, making a ginormous mess.

3. Yes you do.
you put the raw egg into the poacher and close the cover. Well the one we have has a cover anyway. I think if you did cook without a cover it could be messy as with a lot of foods you nuke.

4. I don't think you can do that.
One of my college professors claimed you could microwave an egg if you put a pinhole in it to release the gasses. I tried it, like a dumbass. He was wrong. Eeet espalo-o-o-o-ded!

6. I suppose now they will either
come up with a "Safety Device" that will sense that an egg in the shell in in the microwave and won't allow the oven to come on, or...

They will charge the oven owner with child endangerment if some kid does nuke an egg.

I can see the big orange warning label now on the outside of the Microwave oven, the bottom of which has a small bolded warning about not removing safety warning under penalty of law.
