1. 4 to 5 pixel range is good |
Canon has some real good ones, and Sony has some that have real good quality and arent that expensive. Unless your kid wants something more professional, you shouldnt spend more than $350 for a really good digital camera.

4. We have had an Olympus digital for many years and are happy |
with it. What will your child use it for? Ours is just 2 mega pixels and is fine for us. It will make pretty good prints up to 4X6. If your child will be making prints larger or doing Photoshop stuff, you may want to to go up to 3-5 megapixels. If it is just point and shoot, have some fun take on vacation camera, I wouldn't spend the money for anything over 2-3 megapixels. You can get a nice camera for far less money and get a nice bag and/or tripod with the extra money.

5. Nikon now makes a 7.1 megapixel coolpix |
in that price range. I had a 3.5 Megapixel Coolpix that I loved-but dropped. I'm now using a 4.1 Megapixel Coolpix-but it's not as easy to use, and has a hard time with Macro images.

11. I have a Kodak Easyshare and I love it, It is a couple of years |
old but I never have to buy batteries for it because it comes with a charger. I like it better than all of the other digital cameras that my friends and family have. I usually prefer Sony products, though!

14. I Just Got One As Well... |
and it is a terrific camera. http://www.steves-digicams.com/2004_reviews/fuji_e550.htmlhttp://www.anandtech.com/digitalcameras/showdoc.aspx?i=2243I did lots of research before my purchase and had it narrowed to the e550 and the Canon ELPH SD300. I went with the Fuji because of it's higher resolution, use of standard AAA batteries, ability to add lenses and a highly touted auto mode. Jay
