2. Wow - bummer.
Rest, fluids, keep warm, watch Oprah or Dr. Phil incessantly. Lay on the couch, sniffle and moan on occasion. You'll be back on your feet in no time! Hope you feel better soon!

3. with viral, it just has to run its course
get as much rest as you can this weekend.

drink plenty of fluids

chicken soup heals the body (and, if it's homemade, it heals the soul too)

5. I had viral pnuemonia while in College, only missed one class

And in retrospect I think it was a huge mistake to not have stopped for rest. I wasn't effective as a student or in my part time job, and I think by getting really worn down it took longer to recover.

It's your decision, but I'd look to reschedule the business trip.

6. Well, Howard Stern swears by Airborne
But I've never tried the stuff myself.

 I guess it couldn't hurt, certianly.

7. how long have you had symptoms?
Most viral cycles generally stimulate a working immune response within 7 to 10 days, but head colds and respiratory virii can sometimes lead on to secondary bacterial infection (i.e., the sinus infection and bronchitis following the head cold). Take it easy and if you start producing green and yellow gunky stuff, get on a Z Pack or something similar according to your doc's specs.

Best thing: Get plenty of rest each night, and believe it or not, if you're feeling up to it and no longer contagious, go do some mild daily exercise to squeeze some more goodness out of your bone marrow. Activity really helps, so long as you're not "sharing" your cooties.

9. I felt really sick last weekend- joint pain, headache, fever
I am better than that now, no aches, pains, fever. Just tired. Doing all the above mentioned and I guess it's just a time thing now. I will continue to be quiet and restful in the hopes that I'll have the energy needed for NYC. The last couple of days I've felt good enough to go outside and remove maple tree seedlings from my garden beds. How do I know when I am no longer contagious? ( I see the doctor again on monday)

10. Seven days after your last fever / chill
is pretty safe, although if you're already on the mend and not actively coughing and sneezing then you're probably not shedding live virus any more.

Most of the damage in respiratory infection is done when the virus causes you to attack your own tissue in an attempt to round up the virus and get rid of it. The resulting flood of snot and other yuck from ordinary resp infection is usually no longer infectious once you've started to produce chunks. It's at the beginning when everything is thin and runny and you're sneezy and most achey that people around you can most easily get it, or if you've had fever within 72 hours.

11. Oooh you poor baby!
I had it once long ago and I was sicker than I've ever been in my life. The reason I got it so bad was because I didn't see the doctor soon enough and didn't rest. I know you feel like you have to go to the trade show or else, but you're playing with your life here. Put yourself first.
