Do you carry a pocketknife?
I carry one of these.

price in Canadian: $23.00
size:58 mm | 2 1/4 inch

Small blade
Scissors
Nail file with screwdriver tip
Toothpick
Tweezers
Key ring

Probably use it a dozen times a day.
Handier that a pocket on a shirt.

1. should I?
I've never thought about it. Then again, you never know when the Swiss army will attack and you need to be prepared to fight them with their own weaponry.

10. I believe everyone should.
Nothing serious, just a little three blade knife. They are horribly useful.

3. Not all the time, but I keep a couple small knives handy.
In my office desk drawer I have a small (2" blade) Buck lock back.
In my car, I have a small (2 blades 3" and 2") knife with Mother of Pearl handle.
At home, I've got a Swiss Army Knife like the one you are showing. Also, I've got a slightly larger Old Timer with 2 blades (4" and 3").

4. Yep...
also used to carry a "Gerber" utility tool in my old job. Even on a sales call (to Dairy Farms mostly) you never knew when you would need a screw driver or a pair of pliers.......came in handy.

I use my pocket knife to clean out my pipes between sales calls....

You would if you could fit one in your glove compartment if it wouldn't piss him off. ;-)

6. Sure do
I carry a Swiss Army knife (the "Tinker" I believe) every day, plus I have a couple of additional pocket knives that I carry from time to time. They come in handy.

11. I carry a Leatherman multi-purpose tool.
I'd no more leave the house without it than I would leave without my shoes; I probably use it at least a dozen times a day.

13. I carry a...
4" Combat Folder in a nylon sheath on the webbing of my fanny pack.

Why?

I need one and it's a good knife, with a saw blade on it. Goes through wire like nothing.

I do not have combat fantasies regarding it. Knife fighting is ugly, ugly, ugly work and I will have no part of it. Damn ugly work.

33. *You* get the Atlanta Cutlery catalongs, don't you :-)
And/or Museum Replicas?

That handle looks really uncomfortable to hold....

I have a run-of-the-mill Swiss Army 3.5-incher. I think I've only ever used the screwdriver part.

17. Typical day:
Use the blade to cut tape on a cardboard box.
Trim a potential hangnail with scissors.
File a rough nail.
Tighten eyeglass screws.
Remove staples from some papers.
Toothpick out a piece of meat from between a couple of back teeth.
Remove a splinter with tweezers.
etc., etc., etc.

How can you live without one?

20. Used to, until..
I used to carry a little* pen knife on my keys until I was refused entrance with it into the Library of Congress earlier this year. I had to take it off and go stick it in my car. I have to go to the LOC a lot to do research, so it's not worth it to carry my little knife every day.**

*I mean, it was a TINY penknife I bought in Chinatown SF in 1990 for about 50 cents! MAYBE a 3/4s of an inch-long blade.

**Hey, my 1,000 post!! WHOOHOO!!!!

21. I Carry The Next Model Up
Bascially the same knife, just a little larger and has the full size knife blade. It's also got the bottle and can opener blade, and each of those has a slotted screwdriver tip. It's a Victorinox, like yours.

Been carrying one for well over 20 years. I use it regularly, mostly because i use the scissors to trim the sloppy part of my cigars.

28. used to,
not very feasible in Washington anymore, way too many security checks and the like, one little incidence of forgetfullenss and you are out one knife. (put it this way, to enter my office building you have to state whether or not you are a US citizen. I wonder what that office on the 12th floor really is? nothing on the sign in the lobby, and the elevator buttons don't work...)

30. Yes, and a Leatherman and a Swiss Army knife
I used to carry a Gerber, but it was stolen. I used to have quite a thing for knives, and still usually have several around, but now they're more for the stuff like corkscrews and screwdrivers than the blades.
