I go for my mammogram today... |
|
the doctor found a mass last month and it has taken a month to get an appointment...
hopefully it is nothing or just a fibroid (they run in my family)
It says you should take a painreliever before going... does that help??

Yeah, its uncomfortable but it only takes a few minutes. Ask if they can warm the plates for you. Sending good vibes your way and hoping it turns out to be nothing.

I am fortunate enough to go every 6 months for a mamogram.....:)
It does help. A good technician helps, too--be sure to tell them if it is more than mildly uncomfortable!

I would put the pain of a mammo at a 2.
I have to get them every 6 months & I've had 2 biopsies. Hang in there, try not to worry. (I know, impossible, I always worry also).

8. I guess it is related to breast size... I have had absolutely no pain |
|
whatsoever but then my bra size is 32 tripple A. A friend of mine asked me how bad it was after the first time I had one and I said "I don't know what they are talking about. I didn't feel a thing." After she had hers, she called me and said I had lied through my teeth.

I had my first mammo just a few months ago -- didn't know about the pain reliever thing, may give it at try the next time.
I have to say, I went thinking it might hurt a bit, but was almost knocked out by how painful it was for me -- I have very dense breast tissue, perhaps that's why.
The freaky thing was I had an existing cyst rupture during the procedure! I shot a nasty, swampy looking fluid out all over the plate! Talk about freakin' you out...
Good luck with your test!

I've had one, I don't remember it hurting, but then I had a frozen shoulder at the time and maybe it just eclipsed the breast discomfort.
Even if something shows tho, don't worry, my friend just had a biopsy after a suspicious Mamo and it turned out to be nothing.

15. I'm still too chicken to go get one |
|
I know I should - I'm 44 - but I rationalize the hell out of not going. No one in my family has ever had breast cancer, I have no risk factors, etc., etc. The problem is that I'm very touchy about my ta-tas - to the point where it's a handicap in my sex life. I don't really like even having them touched, and I sure as hell don't want them squashed flat. Saw 'em off and build me new ones that I can use as sex toys, that's my motto!
(yes, I realize that's infantile.)
