Chocolate and Lemon merengue pies are my fav. :9 :9 :9 :9 :9

And with real whipped egg whites, baked on top, not Cool Whip. Cool Whip is cheating.

10. Buttermilk pie (Recipe)
A little explanation may be in order. I've been making buttermilk pies for about thirty years. When there were kids around the house I had to bake them half a dozen at a time. The pies taste nothing like buttermilk and resemble a tangy custard, but better. They're very good!

BUTTERMILK PIE
1/2 c butter, softened
1 c sugar
3 tbsp flour, rounded
3 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 c buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
dash of nutmeg
prepared graham cracker crust or regular crust
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Add sugar to butter, cream together well. Add flour and eggs, beat well. Stir in buttermilk, vanilla and dash of nutmeg.
Pour into graham cracker crust and bake for 45-50 minutes or until tootpick inserted in center comes out clean.

28. Peach!!! But I have a great blackberry pie story...

I am from upstate NY and I took my girlfriend (now wife) home for the first time to meet the family. While I am there, we get together with a friend of mine from high school at his house for dinner. After dinner, he brings out dessert and it is blackberry pie. I was never a fan of blackberry pie and neither was my wife, so we politely say that "We will share a piece of pie."

Anyhow, we get the pie and I take the first bite. I look at my wife and I whisper, "This pie is incredible!!" She takes a bite and says, "Could I have my own piece of pie?"

My friend's family ran a restaurant when we were kids and his mom did all the baking for the restaurant. His mom baked this pie from fresh blackberries. This blackberry pie was the best pie I have ever eaten.

39. Strawberry rhubarb
Oh delicious sweet tangy-ness. The summer of dreams was the summer my mom practiced for the August pie contest, which meant a pie a day, which meant strawberry rhubarb for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Glorious days (even though she didn't win, which was a horrifying outrage).

I also love anything involving blackberries.
