So, my daughter told me yesterday
That she prays to God and he calls her back on a miniature cell phone in her ear. In a house full of atheists...go figure!

1. When I was little I told my mom that angels talked to me. Thing is
I think maybe it's true. If there _are_ angels, I would think the small fry would be the most deserving and most interesting people to talk to. *g*

2. She also told me that she saw an angel
flying around her school. I'm beginning to wonder if I should worry.

3. I wouldn't worry, per se
I'd just talk to her... ask her what kind of things they talk about. Ask about what the angel looked like, and what it did. I haven't ruled out things in this world that not everyone is aware of or tuned in to. I, too, agree that kids seem to be more open to that kind of stuff...

7. The reason I say worry
Is that she's on Zoloft for anxiety and Trazadone to help her sleep at night. If she's seeing/hearing things that aren't there, it could be the meds...she's only been on them a short time.

8. Uh, that does not sound good. Get a second opinion.

On edit: Not that it's any of my damn business, but under what circumstances would a 9-year-old need those medications?

9. Yeah, I'll bring it up to the therapist Thursday
I don't mind you asking. She steals things, most of the time useless things, and hoardes them in her closet. She wasn't sleeping worth a darn. She wouldn't do her work at school unless the teacher was right on top of her, and she wouldn't do her homework. After a year of therapy, things weren't any better, so she went to a psychiatrist and was put on meds. Everything is improving except the stealing/hoarding.

10. Just to clarify
I wasn't seeking medical advice. I thought it was funny that God calls her on a cell phone...was wondering if dubya has a cell phone in his ear as well. I know where to get medical advice...from the people who went to med school!

14. As long as Jesus doesn't start instructing her poke folks in the nose
I wouldn't worry about it. :)

When I was little I had an invisible giraffe for a pet. She would send me invisible letters and hold up notes from across the room. Sometimes imaginary friends are the best.

16. LOL
When she was four/five, she'd say that she couldn't sleep at night because her feet were talking to her. She claimed that they told her "Stay up! Stay up!". That stopped after I told her that her feet were going to get her butt in trouble!

20. Only if you mean intervention by...

...Andy Devine, the gravel-voiced sidekick in old western movies.

Otherwise you probably mean divine intervention.

One place to find it...

And from an atheist POV, what the kid is saying is no screwier than a lot of claims I hear from grown-up Xians.

If you can swallow talking snakes, pregnant virgins, and walking dead guys, a miniature god-phone in your head is no big deal.

22. You can go after me
I believe in Angels -- my door sign says "This house is protected by Angels." I do believe.

You believe what you want to believe, that is your right and I respect you for your belief.

This is my belief and hopefully I will respected for my belief.

The power of DU is that we respect each other for our beliefs.
