I am going to kill somebody at Home Depot (yes, lurking freepers causing trouble here at DU today, feel free to alert them :eyes:) The Maytag guy showed up and looks at the washer while telling me we have no extended service coverage and I have to pay him $125 to look at the machine. WHAT???? So I call Home Depot back and they verify that I do have coverage...but, here's the kicker, it's through some GEZWIM place or something like that (that's a division of GE) and the wrong person is on the call...and they're not sure if they can cover the call or not, but the replacement is covered IF I can stop the guy. AND somehow they lost our forms...Hahahaha! Isn't that funny????? GRRRRR
So, in a nutshell, this morning when I called Home Depot about service and to verify the service number, the woman who answered the phone in appliances told me the number I had (which was the correct one) was WRONG...and to call the Maytag number. Home Depot sucks right now. Maytag sucks right now. The jury's out on GE because I had to leave my name and number and they'll call me back (in 48 hours) to schedule a visit.
By the way, lurking freepers, this actually did happen today. :eyes:

5. I'm no appliance expert, but |
|
How does the "tub" on a washing machine go bad? Did something plastic or metal break?
I've found that normally belts can wear and snap, motors can burn out, or seals can start leaking, but I've never heard of a "tub" being shot.

|
What's it made of...styrofoam? Cheap chinese crap.
I'm sorry this happened to you Mrs G :beer::hug:
I started having problems with my 4 year old machine about a year ago. I got fed up with Sears people and decided to try a local-yokel repair company. They fixed my machine for about $50 less than Sears, and actually showed up when they said they would.

10. I'm sorry you're having a bad time dealing with the lot of them. |

I had a similar problem with my Maytag washing machine. It leaked water on the floor after a few months of owning it. They came out and replaced the tub saying it had a hole (it did), a few months later it started leaking again. This time the repairman checked the shaft and said it wasn't straight and was causing the wear on the tub creating the holes. They replaced the tub and shaft and no more leaking. Just thought I'd mention that to you in case yours should get another hole.
For your day in service agreement hell, I offer you this...

Things like that can be so frustrating.
A quarter, no kidding?! I'm going to have to be more diligent in removing the loose change from my laundry in the future. I'm forever scooping out change from the bottom of the washer, I never realized it could damage the machine.

You CAN'T wash Automobile Transmission parts in a home washing machine..It tends to put holes in the tub...plus the fact that you used Sulfuric Acid instead of Tide..Tsk..Tsk..

like our esteemed president, instead of a traitorous friend of a blow-job accepting liberal scum president, you wouldn't have that problem.
:-)
Sorry to hear you are having problems - service people suck. Companies suck.
I'm with Zomby - the entire world is incompetent.
As Frank Zappa said, the universe's greatest commodity is stupidity.

13. well, no matter how GE resolves it-THEY SUCK |
|
no jury needed. There was an Oscar winning documentary on the lying suckage a few years ago, "Deadly Deception: General Electric, Nuclear Weapons and Our Environment" They got out of the boycott by SELLING the nuclear stuff off-but I still don't buy their shit.
That said, I am sorry to hear of your trouble. Getting the runaround any time is no fun, but when you're right and the asshats passing you around are wrong, it's extra aggravating. Home Depot should have comped you the service.
And the Freeps? nothing gets those units of theirs looking like a half eaten roll of Tums than some officious duties. I'm sure they've emailed everyone about your rant here.

26. Get out the phone book, and look up a small appliance repair |
|
company. I've had nothing but headaches with warranty work, but found a great local repair place that doesn't give me the run around, and does good work. Yes, I have to pay, but not through the nose. It's a family company. And when they fix something, it stays fixed.
