7. Aerosmith is one of the best bands |
|
that I have no idea what they're saying. At least in the old stuff--back before they got all poppy. Now I can understand what Steven is "singing." and I don't like it. I preferred it when I couldn't make heads or tails of the lyrics.
Here's a question: Why can't Joe Perry come up with crankin' hooks like he used to?

11. I was listening to Perry tonight on rock line |
|
and they were playing some of his stuff from his new solo album. He can still come up with some pretty good hooks, but for some reason it doesn't make it into the Aerosmith albums. I don't know what it is with age and creativity, but it does seem like a lot of rockers lose the touch as they get older. Perhaps it's due to some hard living when they were younger.

12. All the strings and synths |
|
in the new Aerosmith stuff are a poor substitute for a good riff.
That was the old formula: Joe would come up with a killer riff, and Steven would scream some incoherent babble around it.
Nowadays: "You're my ay-ay-ay-angel"? Puh-lease.

I think the boys are going for more appeal. That's good for pop-rockers, but bad for die-hard rock fans.

15. While I definitely prefer the Classic Aerosmith... |
|
...I don't mind most of their newer stuff. THough, I cannot stand "Just Push Play". Terrible album with a few decent tunes.
"Pump" is almost up there with their classic 70's material though.
