Get thee to the British Library (with apologies to Shakespeare) |
|
The BL has scanned and posted the two Caxton editions of The Canterbury Tales online for the viewing. Treasures indeed... http://www.bl.uk./treasures/caxton/homepage.htmlYou can view the two texts side-by-side or one at a time... I'm drooling!

2. I thought the BL was way cool |
|
when, in the same room, I could see lyrics to a Beatles song scrawled on a scrap of paper, diaries in Charlotte and Emily Bronte's handwriting, and the order signed by Elizabeth I ordering the execution of Mary Queen of Scots. It was overwhelming.
Oh, and if that wasn't enough, the Rosetta stone was just upstairs.

3. That is really beautiful. |

700 years ago writers didn't have distractions like tv and the internet to keep them from creating great literature. Makes you wonder what could i be accomplishing if it weren't for this, that, and the other.
