Van Der Graaf Generator reunion concert |
|
I was curious if anyone may have gone to the show in London last week. I've heard rave reviews and apparently the new CD is highly touted as well, I'll be picking it up at Tower Records later today. I'm very tempted to fly to London to see the show at Shepherds Bush...

1. WoW! I heard nothing about this and I'm a big VdGG fan.... |
|
Is it Hammill and his new backing band, or is it the classic "Godbluff"-era line-up, with Peter Jackson on reeds?
This should be one of the few reunions that doesn't suck.
I hope they do some material from "The Quiet Zone," too, like "Lizard Play."

...with Hammill, David Jackson, Guy Evans, and Hugh Banton. There is a new (double) CD out on EMI (they revived the Charisma "Mad Hatter" imprint for the occasion) called Present. One disc is new songs while the second disc is all improv. Here are some links.... http://www.vandergraafgenerator.co.uk/vdgg_rfh060505.htmhttp://www.vandergraafgenerator.co.uk/present.htmhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/music/classicpop/reviews/vandergraaf_present.shtmlThere is no one like Hammill.....

3. Might want to check this out also... |

http://www.vandergraafgenerator.net/site.phpIt's the EMI site for the new CD. Clicking on "#2" lets you see and listen to a 2 part interview with Peter Hammill. He looks and sounds in fine form.

I'm so glad I found this thread, or I'd have never guessed they'd reunite.
I first bought their "Still Life" CD back around 1990, and from there I just had to have the rest. I have a couple Hammill solo CD's too. Great stuff.

I just ordered my ticket for the Shepherds Bush show in July. I got "Godbluff" in 1975 on the advice of a friend who said "If you like Crimson, you might like these guys...." and I've been a fanatic ever since.
