Who/ what/ where do you love?
Edited on Thu May-12-05 07:28 PM by undisclosedlocation
Further positiveness to try to break up the ugly karma of the last couple days. Me? After my girlfriend and the first few obscure ones, I'm a cliche machine: Alice, Too Much Joy, Steve Wynn, John Wesley Harding, Paris, NYC, Savannah, Canterbury (I think in the intervening 20-odd years they've turned it into even more of a tourist trap, but it was a very important junior year abroad), London, Salzburg, "Casablanca," "Miller's Crossing," "Amelie," Alan Rickman, the rest of France, David Attenborough, a whole lot too fucking many people whose names are preceded by "the late" (my mother, Douglas Adams, Warren Zevon, to name a few), everybody in my family (even the annoying ones), "Love at the Five and Dime," puppies, kittens, babies and bunnies.

You?

1. Many things!
My husband, my daughter, my friends, travelling, Germany, Athens, Paris, a good book, singing along with music I know by heart, going to the beach, climbing rocks, climbing mountains, sleeping outside, taking a great photograph, drinking wine and playing silly games with friends, a cappella choral groups, wandering aimlessly in cities I am new to exploring, watching a nice sunset, the feeling of a thunderstorm, the smell of wet pine trees.... many things :)

3. I used to have the bad habit of trying to get lost in cities where I don't
speak the language, including Moscow in the dead of winter during the cold war. Never worked; though I have a not so great sense of direction, I can always spot and remember landmarks, so I always get back unscathed.

27. LOL, nice....
I never got lost to the point of unfindable... more just wandering :) We used to take the subway to a random stop outside the city we lived in, and walk around and see what was there. You find some cool stuff that way!

7. One of the ways I know I'm not a poet is that I can never describe how
the light hits the high water line on the baldcypresses at Congaree Swamp National Park. Entrancing, bewitching; I never give up trying, though.

16. I've got "Amphetamine" in the rotation of my show right now!
The Miracle 3 is his best band since the DS; I'm waiting for another Gutterball CD, too. I've got "When You Make Up Your Mind" in the rotation, too; the acending guitar solo in it always put a smile on my face..

17. Well we're soul brothers then
"Make Up Your Mind," 9 days out of 10, is my favorite song of all time. I'm afraid you better not hold your breath on that Gutterball record; how long have we been waiting now? When I was in Richmond, I wanted to find Bryan Harvey's novelty store and shake him: "When are you guys going to make another album?!"

18. Good call...
What's Johnny Hott up to these days? You've gotta like The Silos then, right? The original group w/ Bob Rupe Mary Rowell and Walter; their new CD is pretty good though; I've got the title track in the rotation, too..

21. Never heard the Silos actually
As I mentioned somewhere else, an alarmingly large number of my CDs resulted from watching MTV extremely late at night in 1990. Bob Mould's "It's Too Late," Steve Wynn's "Carolyn" and I don't know what all else. I missed college radio when I was actually in college because my pretentious friends were so tedious on the subject. So I got into the Dream Syndicate after the fact, mainly because I had the luck to latch onto a cassette copy of "Live at Raji's" about that time too. I oughtta play that darned thing! ("Someone set fire in the fields last night/ Turned himself in this morning...")

after he left The Silos; he played w/ Cracker for awhile, but I don't know what he's doing now. I know he lived in Richmond for a long time, not sure if he does...

25. I absolutly love this girl who lives on my floor this year.
What really sucks about it is that I know she loves me back, but I don't know if it's just as friends. For example, we should said good bye for like 10 min (End of the year) and we were both in tears. And we have been doing this all night, until this other guy came in. Then it was like I wasn't even there, but I KNOW SHE LIKES ME. I really don't know what to do.:-(

30. If you don't ask her, you'll regret it the rest of your life
A low-burning, sad regret, nothing that will obsess you every day, but still something that will be with you twenty years later. Go ahead and ask. What's she going to do, kill ya? :D

28. My loves
my husband, my daughter, my soon to be child (7-1/2 months to go to meet him/her) my extended family, my pets, my best friend, riding on my 4 wheeler, living in the country, my job most of the time, the moon, the sun, the stars! The fresh air in the morning with the steer mooing across the road and the roosters letting out their morning cry! I have not traveled much, so I just love the place that I live. It is just a beautiful place to be right now and I would not give up what I love for anything!!

GEP
