What is your favorite Christ allegory?
"The Green Mile"? "Being There"?

I'm going with "The Iron Giant."

5. Best Christ allegory: SUPERMAN I and II
Superman begins in the aftermath of a war in Heaven (Krypton), whereupon three traitors are sentenced to Hell (The Phantom Zone). Then, God (Jor-el) sends his son to Earth, in part, to be its redeemer. The boy lands on earth, is raised in a humble milieu and then goes on a vision quest until about 30. He then grounds himself in a large province (Metropolis) and becomes known as a miracle-worker.

In Superman II, the avatar has his Garden of Gethsemane crisis (Lois), is crucified (Clark is beaten up in a bar) and rises again to battle Satan (General Zod).

BEAT THAT!

6. Water Boy
I mean, the H20 and the Madonna figure cutting up the snake and the coach fondling his nipples: "blessed are the paps which suckled ye."

How could you miss it?

8. I didn't see it, but I'd say the Passion of the Christ
would be right up there. Although on second thought it's more of an allegory of Star Wars.

10. Best and Worst
Worst... Passion, even though it's not exactly allegory.

Best... One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (Book>Movie)

11. "Saving Grace" with Tom Conte, bar none.
Young-ish Pope elected but doesn't really want the job. He is inadvertently locked out of the Vatican and wanders anonymously to an impoverished Italian village without irrigation. He is only recognized by an embittered former priest who now looks after sheep. The "Pope" tries to build an aqueduct and is openly challenged by the townspeople and a "boss" who likes getting government hand-outs. The "Pope" is assisted only by a deaf girl, her mother, and other children of the village. Together they persevere, build the aqueduct, and save the village and the inhabitants (on several levels). The priest gets his faith back, the Pope returns to the Vatican renewed, etc.

Try it. I'm an atheist and I liked the film.
