and from what I have read across today - I think some folks might be making any case for sniffa harder to make.

8. If you can't play by the rules, don't play the game. |

I really don't think it's up to the members who gets banned and who doesn't.
The Sniffa afficionados are pathetically sounding their grief in hopes that a popularity contest will override the rules of DU. It's so transparent. I wish they would all just knock it off and grow up.

But Skinner said he was away all weekend, and in his last post he said something about furthering discussion next week. So maybe it will help sniffa more if we hang tight til then. :) Maybe it all can be resolved.

we should take Skinner at his word. His second thread explaned that the decision was made after great deliberation. If anything this ongoing martyrdom of sniffa would make any case he might make on his behalf worse. Why? The ongoing implication by action that no one gets that Skinner was serious per our behavior and how wrong, even in anger, even if baited, it is to cross into personal cruelty.
Let us learn that when the forum has gotten so out of hand (or some within the forum, that is) that Skinner has to give a big admonition, that it is really foolish to defy him within 24 hours.
And it doesn't make him sympathetic when the overall tenor of arguments is that his actions were her fault (as if she cast some power over his fingers at his keyboard.) Maybe if it stopped looking like folks just want to point fingers at a villain, rather than take any ownership for their own behavior... a) it wouldn't have gotten SO out of hand; and/or b) Admin might be more empathetic or willing to listen to him and/or his supporters.

As someone who has survived and endured many bannings and flame wars, I think we all need to pull back and let cooler heads prevail.
