R.I.P. Daimon (the "fruit bat") March 1989-May 15, 2005

Daimon is the solemn, polite old fellow in front of his much younger friends. When he was little, his ears were huge in relation to his head, thus he was the "fruit bat". He was the sweetest cat I have ever known, and he will be terribly missed. :loveya: O8)

2. A Tear For Daimon
May he be welcomed by our pets at Rainbow Bridge where they are once again young and playful and where they await their owners/masters/soul mates when the time comes....

4. I am so sorry....
Daimon looks like such a sweet kitty, and so handsome too! From your picture, it seems he had a lot of friends, and from the sounds of it, was well-loved. I am sending you lots of hugs today:

ps. have you read the poem 'The Rainbow Bridge'? here it is, along with another related poem entitled 'Beyond the Rainbow'...

RAINBOW BRIDGE
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted,
and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...

Beyond The Rainbow
As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wonderous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.

I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright.
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.

For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord that no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

12. He reminds me of my brother's cat, only a lot thinner
I love all black cats, in fact my father and I jokingly tried to start a cult by placing stickers of a cat's head sillouhette (black on white, big ears) in public places just for a laugh.

18. Heh...his blackness has scared many people
over the years. Can't tell you how many non-cat people have hesitated noticeably when first encountering Daimon. It's ironic, because he was so sweet and friendly, and wanted to visit with any stranger in our house.

He started getting gray late in life, but he was often hard to see in low light, or mistaken for a sweater tossed on a chair. Stealth kitty.

16. Cats don't die, they just become invisible...
I am sorry for your loss, and I just hugged all of mine to make sure that they are aware that I love them. I frimly believe that cats stay around us in spirit form and are always just out of sight around the next xorner, checking out the path.

20. Yeah, I think that's right.
In any event, he's reunited with his 'sister', Chandra, the female Tonkinese with whom he was raised, that we lost last April. It's the end of an era for us, me and my partner. The two cats we got when we first started out together have now moved on without us.

they haven't really moved on without you. They are still there with you, in spirit. Now, you have two kitty spirits watching over you and checking out the path. I suspect that at some time in the near future, they will be getting some company from one of mine, and I dread that day, but it is inevitable (he is not all domestic cat, and is 25 human years old). You will probably always feel the Fruit Bat's and Chandra's presence around you. I firmly believe that.

Edited because I didn't use spell check

25. Our two Siamese girls
are so young, they haven't been around Daimon very long, and he mostly ignored them. But Muji, our male Ragdoll, is two, and definitely had a relationship with Daimon. He was discreetly hanging around Daimon almost constantly his last few days at home.

We showed them all the body when we got him back from the vet, same as we did with Chandra. So they would 'understand', and not wonder why he has disappeared from their lives.

Goofy Muji is now the head of the household, at such a young age. Such responsibility; fortunately, the girls adore him.

30. They're acting a little weird.
Like I said above, we showed them Daimon's body. My partner Michael had read that it's better to do that than simply have their companion disappear from the home without explanantion. They all sniffed him, and Muji, who was Daimon's friend of the three, licked his tail a little, and then walked away very slowly. I think they're mourning. I know I am.

27. my condolences. when we get lucky and they get to be with us
for as long as Daimon, we forget that their lifespans are much shorter than ours.

We lost a 17 yr old cat 2 years ago and I still miss the cranky thing, even though four of the cats we had at the time are still with us.

Daimon looks like my Clark. I too love black cats!
