"THE L WORD": Did any of you guys feel that the season finale... |
|
... that aired earlier tonight was a let down? It was supposed to be shocking... where was the shock?
(Spoiler Alert)
Were we supposed to be shocked when Shane found Jenny in the bathroom cutting herself? Like we didn't see something like that coming from miles away... Besides, last week's preview sort of gave it away.
Overall, was this whole season a let down compared to the first?
What are your thoughts?
Peace,

1. I don't like the whole "dark place" that Jenny is in |
|
With the Nazis and the circus and the molestation -- it's just too much.
Maybe Gloria Steinem was the shock? :-)

2. I really cannot stand the character, "Jenny" |
|
The whole plot and story line about her just sucks.
She was barely tolerable when they first introduced her as the girlfriend of Tim, but now as the tortured writer she's completely unbearable. Don't like the weird carvival shit and just generally don't like her character.

5. I go over to a friends to watch it with a group.... |

and we can't stand that whole story line...it's just ridiculous. I've come so close to emailing the writers. It's fun to get together with my friends on Sunday nights but they really, really need to work on the writing. We spend half of our time shouting at the T.V. that that's not how it really is! I'm a lesbian in L.A. and there are some things that are realistic (such as many of us have dated the same people) but some of the things are totally unrealistic. It's just not a "quality" show like Six Feet Under and Sex and the City.

We spend a lot time laughing at the show. Waaaay too contrived. Almost cartoonish.
I was expecting some really good writing and storylines. I was disappointed, frankly.
Some of it rings true, but for the most part it is too self-referential, self-absorbed, or something.

4. I also thought it was very anti-climactic... (spoilers) |
|
Jenny is like a train wreck, I am never sure whether I can sit through her scenes... At times I think she is a nothing but a huge void, and at other times I feel so sorry for her and what ever hell she went through as a child to turn her into the adult that she is.
It was a no-brainer that Shane and Carmen were going to get back together. The same with Alice and her over-neediness. Of course Tina was going to have the baby. My favorite part last night was Helena being bested by her ex-partner and mother.
I really enjoyed this season, but I don't feel it compared to the first. Maybe because it was so new last year. Plus, I miss Marina. I have enjoyed the digs against Bush and republicans in general, however.
It is almost like the Sopranos that way. While I still love that show and never missed an episode, each season it seemed to lose something from the previous season.

7. I wish they'd write the Jenny character off all together... |
|
Every time they show her we tivo it to the next scene or take our bathroom breaks! It's also pretty unbelievable that they had NO cliff hanger. The creator is also the writer so I don't know if they can make a change. I'm definitely going to try to email her (the writer/creator). All she'd have to do is hear some of the situations my friends and I find ourselves in and believe me....it'd make great viewing!! LOL!!!
