Bacall: I wish for the United States, for George Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, „Condi” Rice, „Rummy”, Ashton Whatshisname – whatever the hell his name is – I wish for them all to disappear from the face of this earth.
I mean it. And I’m a citizen, I am going back to New York to vote, I think all of those people have done a lot to destroy not only our standing in the world, but our country itself! In America we’ve lost a lot of Civil Rights, there have been terrifying rules placed upon us, and there are times when you have to look over your shoulder when you want to say something! It’s a very scary time and I think that the only thing that is going to help us and also affect the rest of the world is to have John Kerry elected. John Kerry is a highly intelligent man, a very serious man, tremendously experienced, he’s a great man for the job, he’ll do a great job in the White House and he will run a fair presidency. He will care about all of the people, not like Bush cares only about the rich people – he doesn’t know about other people, he doesn’t know about the performing arts, he doesn’t know about middle-class people, he only knows about corporate… General Electrics and all those sort of companies, and of course he does know about Texas – and that is of great comfort to all of us!
Hurch: That’s not the whole world…
Bacall: And I hold him responsible for the deaths of I think roughly eleven-hundred American lives in Iraq and twenty-thousand Irakis dead, which I think is pretty shocking… many homes destroyed and many men, women and children who are completely innocent destroyed; and I hold him entirely responsible. He wanted to invade that country and that’s what he did. He created a war that does not exist, it is not a war, it’s an invasion. I wish all of Europe could vote because if Europe voted, Kerry would be… it would be a landslide!
