OAKLAND, Calif. -- A fan who threw a cup of beer at New York Yankees slugger Jason Giambi Saturday night will face multiple criminal charges, according to the Oakland Athletics.
Eric Anduri spent the night in jail after pelting Giambi with beer near the dugout in the eighth inning. Anduri is accused of nailing Giambi with the beer when the former A's star returned to the New York dugout after batting during the Yankees' 15-6 win.
Anduri was arrested and charged with battery, public intoxication and throwing objects on the field, according to the A's vice president of stadium operations. An Oakland Police Department spokesman wouldn't confirm the charges Sunday.
Giambi praised the quick actions of Coliseum security and declined to pursue any additional charges against the fan.
