What's your favorite dialectal accent? |
|
I love listening to anyone speak English with any sort of British accent---English, Scottish, Irish are all fun to hear. Got a favorite?

southern proper and southern dumbass... the latter is, of course, unappealing.
Worst dialect? New Orleans Yat. It has always rubbed me the wrong way.

19. I know what you mean about Southern accents |
|
My favorite is probably a strong Georgian (Jaw-jun) accent that some have. Especially with women; those are beautiful. Many accents in the "Deep South" sound nice; only a handful grate on me. There is also a certain strong accent that some folks in the Carolinas have that I like quite a bit, too (a strong example of it is that of former Sen. Fritz Hollings of SC).
My least favorite Southern accent is probably the twangy one spoken by many Texans, though Bush's bastardized version of it has probably helped to lessen it. (Despite being from Texas, I have been told that I sound more like a Louisianan- makes more sense since I live right on the border, in Cajun country- more of a soft drawl than a twang.)
It's sad to see that many accents within America seem to be dying down as the years go by.

Who had the thickest Brooklyn accent I've ever heard. I don't know why but I've always liked that accent.

Cockney (proper cockney, not the affected 'mockney' which became popular a while ago), and even Essex at times (which is one of the most Lambasted accents over here).
Scottish highLands and Edinburgh.
