When writing 'why did you leave' on an application form, |
|
how does one do so?!
I hated my previous boss.
My current job, despite havng positive reviews, I am seeing no signs of advancement. I feel stale and underused. I need to expand my horizons.
But I dunno what to say.
Could I ask for your advice?

1. Sought Greater Opportunity |
|
You can always say you were seeking a greater opportunity. I was looking for something exciting, like Company X . . . (the company you're applying to).
Don't worry about spreading it on too thick. It's never too thick.

2. My advice: Don't burn bridges. |
|
Use generic positive terms like "new opportunity" "professional advancement," blah, blah, blah.
I am starting a business with the help of several old bosses and I expect to do very, very well. If I'd said what I thought at the moments I was resigning, none of this would be possible.
You will find that after years of perspective, what you are feeling at just this moment will be very much less important than you think it is today.

3. Write that 'You are looking for a dynamic company |
|
that is looking for employees who wish to propel the company up wards, knowing that they will also rise'
Or something similar.... you need to be sooo positive. Aggressive is also good (I can't deal w/it).
NEVER mention that you hated a boss, EVER (unless the interviewer hates them too).

4. Even if the interviewer hates the person too, it is never |
|
a good idea to say that you hated or couldn't get along with a previous employer.
Never ever ever burn bridges.

5. I would agree 99% of the time. |
|
But in our Co. there have been a few hires (that we scavenged from competitors) who had a few key words that got them hired. There are those w/in every industry that are notorious - behind closed doors. Those that recognize the situation are astute.

7. I wouldn't dare do that! |
|
Not for any previous job.
I've always kept things as they are; and not let personal emotions interfere.
It's not always easy and everybody has co-workers they may not like, but I am that ethical.
