What kind of guitars do you own, and what kind of guitars do you prefer.
Electric solidbody---Gibson Les Paul Standard, Fender Telecaster
Hollowbody---Gibson ES-335, CS-336 and Epiphone Casino
Acoustic---Martin, Takamine
I actually own an Epiphone Les paul and a martin Acoustic
on edit---I also have a Fender P-Bass and a Fender P-Bass special. I used to have a Gibson thunderbird Bass which I now regret trading.

1. I sold all my guitars, but..... |
|
I USED to have these:
An Ibazez double-neck from 1976 that looked like a white version of Jimmy Page's Gibson SG
A Peavy Generations (best guitar I ever owned)
A Gibson SG (reish, from 88)
A Hohner copy of one of them headless Steinberger guitars (sweeeeeet tone)
Plus one or two cheap-ass guitars, acoustics and the like, which I have forgotten about for good reason.

6. wow, you had one of those double guitars? |
|
that is pretty cool
The headless guitar is so 80s, just like the guitar-keyboard things :P
Worst guitar I ever owned was a Fender Duo-Sonic. Just awful, if it stayed in tune. :puke: My best guitar ever is the ebony LP Standard that i play now. I also own a Fender P-Bass (I used to have both a J-Bass and a Gibson thunderbird Bass) and a Fender Squire P-Bass special (which is an awesome bass)

19. I've only ever had two basses. |
|
One: the Hamer Cruisebass I inherited from my dad...
And two, a cheap 60's Japanese knockoff of a Gibson SG that I bought in a pawn shop for 40 bucks and sold for 200 (it was sweet...even though I made a profit on it, I wish I had kept it.)

It sounded very "farty," like a Chris Squire kind of sound, and would stay in tune even after falling down a flight of stairs.
Like I said, I TOTALLY regret selling that fucker.

The G-310 sounds pretty sweet for an economy-priced SG knockoff. And it was a blem so I got $30 knocked off the price when I bought it.

The type of guitar I prefer depends on what kind of music I'm playing.

The strings are set apart just a bit more than on a regular folk acoustic so I can play jazz on it and it has a cutaway as it was made for a fingerstyle guitar player ala Chet Atkins style which is the type of guitar I generally play.

Yes it stays in tune and plays great. I just need to get rid of some stuff and I have other guitars to play. It is the Ebony one (dark, almost black). I have the hardshell case for it too, and the tags are even floating around somewhere. I'm thinking around $550.00. You can come check it out if you want.
As for the ESP. I was in the market for a Tele and I went to Bob Brunos old store. I was playing the Fender and he came over with the ESP. They were new at the time and he asked me to check it out. It was a 'factory two" because it had some kind of blemish on the paint. I didn't see one. But, the thing played great and I bought it on the spot. The serial number is 000086. It's been around with me for a while.

in terms of cost to quality ratio, they are among the best guitars out there. My Epiphone Les paul is not only a very sharp looking guitar, it has a 1st rate tone and you can hammer on it for hours before it even begins to go out of tune
Playing through a fender Tube amp, it sounds fantastic
The Epiphone Sheraton is a 1st class hollow body. It may not be the top of the line, but for the price, it is definetly well worth what you pay.

Epiphone Les Paul Standard, which I will back up what was previously said: it sounds great. I plug it into a Roland Jazz Chorus, and I've had guys with a PRS/ Fender Twin setup tell me how good the sound was. Also, I have a Fender '50s Telecaster, which sounds just amazing with a slide. And I have a 1968-1970 Yamaha Acoustic Six-string.
I had a Epiphone 12-string until my old roommate's cat smashed it in half. Those things weren't too sturdy anyway. I'd have a Casino as well, if it weren't for that whole having-no-money problem.

The Twin Reverb is the prize, but those Deville amps are pretty nice too if you can't afford a Twin. Mesa Boogie's are pretty nice tube amps too.
I like my Jazz Chorus though specifically because it's a solid state. My only experience with a Tube amp was this old CMI SG amp (which owned the "SG" name before Gibson). It sounded amazing for the first three days, then the tubes burned up and it about burned the house down. I come to find out later that it was a common problem with those amps. I seem to have bad luck with tube amps.

soon to be more now that I'm working in a music store.
My three:
- Yamaha FG-331 acoustic six-string. Virtually unplayable until a buddy of mine shaved down the bridge. Now it plays sweet. - Takamine Jasmine 12-string acoustic. Soon to be dead. The top is peeling away from the braces, and its not worth the $$ to fix. - 1989 American Standard Stratocaster. My pride and joy. Its one of the best $500 guitars I've ever played. It'll do until I can save up the $1400 to get a G&L ASAT Classic.

this was the first synth guitar to ever really hit the mass market. The cable that come out of the guitar body is huge. It's pretty funny actually.
The quitar is the best part of the setup as they didn't have the string tracking down quite yet ( a lot of "cut outs"). The guitar that came with it was a dead on Les Paul knockoff. They actually got sued by Gibson because it was so accurate.
So Roland decided to change the electronics and issue it as a "synth guitar".
I'm sure your GX700 does a far better job than this dinosaur. But at least the guitar part sounds good... :)

I like the VG..you can get some shitty guitar, drill a hole in it and program every string to play or sound like a different instrument if you want..you can have your bottom E sound like a bass guitar and your top E sound like a saxophone if you want.
The GX700 is a very nice piece of equipment, but one thing I would love to come across is an old RATT distortion unit..those were cool
I also have a Brain Moore Iguitar which is cool..plays through a Piazzo pickup

my half sister's dad passed away a few years back, and she had always told me that he played some with his friends. After he died she went to Colorado to gather his things. She brought back a couple of his guitars and gave the strat to her son (it was the only one he wanted). She said the other was a classical guitar. He wasn't a very wealthy guy and I figured it was a run of the mill Yamaha or possibly even a Martin. It turned out to be a new Cordoba Gipsy King.....This guitar actually plays itself....all you have to do is put your fingers on the fretboard.
On top of that I have a 66 strat that I have had since '76 and a fender 12 string.
My best friend bought a 59 LP remake special order from Strings and Things in Memphis in about '78. Strings and Things worked with the GIbson factory to get these things PERFECT. They only ordered about 15-20 of these and my friend bought one for $1500 (quite pricy for 1978). He still has it, keeps it under his bed and never plays it anymore. He is afraid to take it to gigs. He took it in to get re-fretted about 6-7 years ago and they offered him 25K for it. It is one of the most gorgeous Pauls I have ever seen.

58. Guitars I have owned . . . |
|
Home made electric guitar (made by my father in the garage. It worked!) Silvertone Gibson Firebird (purchased used around '68 - '69) Fender Strat (69-70 model) Les Paul Standard (gold top, soap bar pickups, 69-70 model) Gibson Flying V (mid 70's reissue) Fender Electric 12 string (made in 70's, I think) Fender Tele (5? Replica, reissued early eighties) Several cheap acoustics and classicals (Yamaha, Vega, etc.) Mosrite hollow body Fender Duo Sonic Fender Jazzmaster Kramer Pacer Deluxe Gibson ES-335 Martin J-40 (black)
The only one I still have is the Les Paul, which has been severely modified. Too bad I didn’t keep it original.

59. you changed the P-90 soapbars? |
|
I wouldn't mind having a guitar with P-90s. A Gold Top LP would be nice. Mike Bloomfield played a '54 Les paul Goldtop with the soapbars---his tone is great, real jazzy

Back in the early seventies, I had it routed out and put a humbucker w/toggle switch in the bridge position.
Around the same time period, I left it in my car overnight during some bitter cold weather. The finish got hair line cracks all over it. I stripped it to natural and refinished it with Deft (I've had a better finish put on since then).
I had no idea how valuable it would have been in the future if I had left it alone.
