Tywan Tripplett, 20, was arrested Wednesday night for trying to take out Canada geese with a high-powered pellet gun in front of the Cleveland Heights Police Department. When officers asked him what he was doing, Tripplett just laughed, said Police Chief Marty Lentz...

Tripplett was charged with attempting to take a Canada goose out of season, a fourth-degree misdemeanor that carries a maximum sentence of 30 days in jail and a $250 fine. He made matters worse for himself, Lentz said, by refusing to cooperate with police and providing false information upon booking, which could add a couple of months and about $500 to his sentence if he is convicted.

About 15 geese spend their days near the department and Severance Town Center. They keep to themselves, but are sometimes a nuisance when they venture into the street, Lentz said. Police suspect one was injured in Tripplett's attack, because it was limping Thursday morning.
