Why doesn't my laptop have a *@*$^# contrast wheel?
My other laptop did.

Dammit, it's annoying not having one.

1. Splain. I think you might be able to make manual settings
with your mouse touch pad. What's the system you got?

12. Go into Start - Control Panel - Display.
See if you can adjust the properties from there.

14. No, sadly, not a single sun icon on the keyboard
And I really looked it over, just to make sure.

16. Nothing in there, either
I found the "advanced" tab on the properties window of the "display" icon in the control panel, and was able to adjust the RGB so the screen is a bit more readable, but couldn't find anything that involved physically adjusting the pixel display of my LCD monitor.

This really, really fucking sucks. My first laptop, a 386-based win3.1 100MB harddrive one, which I bought in '93, from Compaq, a company I hate, had a contrast wheel, which was (and still is) essential because one never knows what the ambient light is gonna be.

This supposedly more advanced, Pentium fucking whatever super monster doesn't have, so far as I can tell, any way to adjust the contrast on the screen. Toshiba, a company which I respect (or used to), apparently feels that their customers should just go fuck themselves if they can't read the screen very well. Because, you know, what are the chances that someone using a laptop might be in different lighting conditions from day to day?

Assholes.

18. You could be on to something. Either in the Advanced tab or
Settings re-adjust the Colors and Screen Area and see what happens.

20. My Satellite 1135 has the little suns on F6 & F7.
You hold down the Fn key & hit F6 to dim, F7 to brighten. Might be worth a try.

22. Crap, F6 and F7 do nothing
They have no icons on them. If I hit F6 it highlights the address bar in the browser. F7 does nothing. If I hit the keys using the FN key, they do nothing.

ARGH!!!!

Why can't Toshiba do it the same way on every computer!!
