My son's friends snake escaped and is somewhere in my house.
My son's friend came over for a visit with his pet snake. They are both twelve. After a couple of hours of chatting and having fun, his friend put the snake down for just a couple of seconds, looked away and it was gone. We've looked all over and it's not anywhere. Fortunately, it's a non-lethal Milk snake, less than two feet long. And it's downstairs in the basement area and will hopefully stay there. Although there is a small hole in the wall for cable wires, and an unused radiator/hot water pipe system along the walls, just a few feet from where it escaped. Not the kind of friday night adventure I was planning on. If anyone has any advice, I 'd appreciate it.

2. I have a phobia about snakes
so I would probably have to move out until it was found.
I hope you find it soon.

5. Thanks, fortunately we don't have phobias about snakes...but I am just
a bit worried. And I just *can't* tell my mother, who visits on some weekends and is just such a help to me around the house. She will not sleep over if she finds out about this!

3. Snakes are cool!
I hope you find it. I still think it would be pretty creepy to have a snake loose in the house.:hi:

8. stake the lad out on the basement floor and smear him...
...with mouse blood. Turn off all the lights and wait until he screams. Then retrieve the snake. Problem solved.

Alternatively, you might put a cardboard box with a hole cut into it onto a heating pad on its lowest setting for a day or two on the basement floor. But I like solution #1 better.

11. We've already discussed getting a mouse (not for the blood) but
to leave in a box or some sort, but I nixed that for now. The last thing I need is a loose mouse also in the house. And I can't deal with mouse blood, heh..

10. Milk snakes are harmless.
He/she will come out sooner or later to sun herself. In the meantime think of all the dough you're saving on pesticides and rodent control.

If not just remember a cat can find most anything. they usually bring it to you after the kill is made.

21. I had two boa constrictors that I used to let roam the house.
They grew too big for their cage. I would usually find them up in the shelves in the closet, also behind the refrigerator where it was warm. They would show up when they were hungry. Look in places where they would go to get warm.

22. Thanks
Those are good ideas. I just checked the boiler room and some closet shelves downstairs. So far no snake. The boiler room has some old holes in the wall though that it could hve gone into. I also think it could be in the radiator pipes.
