Tons of DUers are on the West Coast, and they may not want to know this until they watch it.

Two of them were written for the show, and sucked. You're right about them, but she didn't pick them. The one song she did pick was about a woman removing herself from an abusive relationship, Independence Day. Not the kind of jingoisic Independence Day you might be thinking of.

I read somewhere tonight she was a page for a Democrat. I read it here, don't know if it's true.

21. Bo fans should be very glad. Hear me out...
The AI winner is under a 2 year contract where they basically determine every move you make. This is good for Carrie because she'll have 2 years of people shaping her into a performer.

Bo, on the other hand, doesn't need that. Bo's a star RIGHT NOW. He'll be under a 1 year contract, and he'll be free to move on and move up. Don't cry for Bo. 2nd place is much better for him. Is it justified? Well there's a debate, but there's definitely karmic justice here.

Don't hate Carrie though.

42. His street cred is fine with me...?
He wowed me after only watching a couple shows, as I am in no way a regular viewer...I watched for a work pool. Great, amazing magnetism. A honest-to-goodness, soulful rocker after years of manufactured corporate crap. It was like finding water in the desert...well, maybe not that good. ;-)

My consolation is that the voting public saw how great he was to put him in the final two. Maybe his "hippie" hair bothered 'em, I don't know, but they knew star quality up until the final showdown. That, to me, is a comforting thought. Does that make sense?

cooked up for him either. Bo's got something that Carrie doesn't.

Also did you see that shot of Simon at the end of Bo's performance tonight? He was on his feet, eyes shining (probably seeing mounds and mounds of money made by managing Bo's appearances in his own future).

Crabby weirdo that he is, Simon seemed to genuinely like Bo, and respect him. It was nice what he said to Bo last night.

Bo is a professional already, and being on this show is going to boost his existing career into a really big career.

Carrie is a beautiful, beautiful girl, and she fits the fairy tale better than Bo. American Idol is about taking the unknown and making a star.

I wanted Bo to win, but I'm not upset. He'll do great.

37. I pretty much agree with you.
It's interesting you posted this, because I told my husband last week that "she needs the win; it will make her a much better performer. He doesn't, he's that good already."

I thought she had a lot of guts AND heart, a decent voice, and I'm sure she's real sweet, but everything she sings sounds the same to me. She emotes, but not soulfully. She just seemed kind of plastic, but I guess that's what sells these days...?

Congratulations to her and her fans. As for me, I am SO buying Bo's first CD, no questions asked. Keep in mind that this from someone who really dislikes AI in general, and only tuned in because I caught Bo performing one day and said, "well, now, who is THIS?" ;-)

30. Not like Bo isn't?
She is a 21 year old that has never had a minute of training and basically just walked off her farm to try out for the show. She did pretty good.
Bo is a lifelong musician that is hitting 30 years old this year and is about as good as a million other singers that play every weekend in every city across America on any given weekend night.
I don't understand why people think that "American Idol" is some sort of presidential election, it is a talent contest that is all about "mediocrity". There are a lot of really talented people on this planet, it doesn't end at American Idol.

53. Not that I am a fan
The thing is: I have been playing, writing, recording and producing rock for 20 odd years. I have many friends in the business and I'm not too shabby on what I do.
I picked Carrie to win it the day I saw her on the auditions. American Idol is a "pop music" show and that's all it is.
I would have loved to see a "rocker" win it, but rock is an attitude and not to be accepted by the masses.
I live 10 minutes away from the Rock Hall of fame and have yet to go there. I don't think true rockers should give a shit about talent contests and acceptance.
I think Bo was OK, just not an "American Idol". That's all. I was in favor of either winning because if it was Carrie then i knew I picked the right one from the get go and if it was Bo then I would have been glad that my "forte" got a lot of attention., It was a win/win for me either way..lol.
It's just a show:)

48. Everyone has an opinion. I thought Bo was a two-bit, wannabe
rock star from the very beginning. He tried so hard to "act" the part of rocker bad boy but just couldn't carry it off. It didn't help that he couldn't sing, dress, talk or even carry a tune in a bucket with a lid on it. To me he was a SNL parody each week playing with that dern microphone stand. And each week I was sure he was gone. I'm not a country music fan (and hell, I, for sure, can't carry tune in a bucket...) but Lynard Skynard is much better without that dude - Bo couldn't even warble through a country classic without detracting from it. Couldn't believe he got past the second round. So many other people were so much more deserving.

Is my opinion more valid than yours, of course not, just different stokes for different folks. I just think you were very harsh on the winner and thought you might not like to hear that some people think your favorite wasn't all the great. Always amazes me on these "reality" shows everyone is convinced the "fix" is in when their particular favorite doesn't win. Apparently there were millions who thought Carrie did a fantastic job. Did I vote for her, nope. Didn't vote for anyone, but I definitely thought she was the much better of the two.

And no, it didn't have a thing to do with either one of their looks. She could sing and he couldn't. JMHO

61. You missed the point - everyone has different tastes. I truly
meant everything I said about Bo. His voice was pitchy, there was no volume, his weak vocals, and he pranced around in a silly affect that any minute I thought he was going to strip down to his skivvies and launch into a Tom Cruise "Risky Business" prance. I do not know the guy so the only thing I can base any of MY opinion on is HIS performances. Truly think the guy is no singer. Performer, maybe. That said, will he be successful? Probably. There are plenty of "singers" today who are extremely popular and successful that have absolutely nothing to do with whether they can sing or not. The current crop of "pop" stars have limited singing ability but extremely successful press agents - so Bo will fit right in. I have nothing against this guy, I don't know this guy but what I saw wasn't "star" material. I can't imagine any recordings he will do in the next 2-3-5-10 years will stand the test of time. Flash in the pan with a mike stand.

Carrie, I don't know. She has a long ways to go before coming a star but at least she is starting with the ability to sing, only she and her "handlers" can try to get the full potential out of her voice or she can go back home to Oklahoma and live her white bread, puppy dogs and country life.

We are never going to agree but please don't try to tell me how I think about anything. Of course my opinion rings false to you - it is totally antithetical of what your opinion is but it is just as valid as your support of Bo. You think he can sing, I don't. No major live altering crisis here, just two people who don't agree.

Bo is much better, but I'm sure Carrie got more votes. A teenage girl of my acquaintance voted for her 40 times. I'm sure teenaged girls across the country did the same thing.

Besides, did you want Bo to be forced to release that awful "Heaven" song? Blech.
