with the implication that we're dirty. After all, there's no special ballskin wash for men.
"Douche" as insult is stupid and tacky, but it isn't sexist because smart women don't use that shit.

14. Calling someone a "douchebag" is meant to insult or demean someone |
|
by implying that they are as nasty as women's genitals. When I see someone using that as an insult, 99% of the time they are male, and I infer from it that they really despise women.

17. A former boss of mine used to use say the word on occasion |
|
And we made fun of him because it sounded ridiculous. George Carlin also had a line or two about that word on one of his albums--funny because of how silly it was. It would be demeaning to women if anyone took the word seriously as an insult, but I don't think anyone has in a few decades.

I just think it's a funny word. I say goddamn all the time too and I don't even believe in God. Once words become swear words they lose most of their original meaning, if you ask me.
On Edit: I also call people dicks, is that demeaning to men?

26. I think they lose their force for the user, but not for other people |
|
who hear it.
I say "shit" and it doesn't seem like swearing to me, but its offensive to my mother and to some other people I know who don't swear that much. And forget about anything stronger than that. She thinks "fart" is the F word.
On the "dicks" question, you'd have to get feedback from men.

29. Douche is unhealthy for women. |
|
It forces dangerous bacteria up and can kill the beneficial bacteria. In other words, don't use it. It screws up your system. Regular showering is plenty enough. Besides, who wants to smell like a mountain freakin' breeze? It's not natural.

30. I understand this word causes consternation for some women. |
|
It happens to be one of my favorites, though. I use it to refer to men and women, without distinction. And I'd put my feminist cred up against anyone else's, too.
I understand what you're saying, though. One of my pet peeves is when people use the word "retard". I absolutely loathe that word, others think it's no big deal.
BTW - I think there is a "ballskin" cleaner. It's called a washcloth.

31. thank you for being the first to acknowledge what I was trying to express |
|
in this post. This word makes me cringe, as 'retard' probably does for you. If I hear "douchebag" a million times it will not take away what it implies to me- that the vilest comment someone could think of is to compare them to something as rank as womens genitals.
Men aren't taught that their bodies require the use an entire aisle of "sanitary" and "hygenic" products to make them acceptable. Women are.

33. Yeah, women are given the impression that their vagina is dirty. |
|
But I think we're starting to move away from that, at least I hope we are. I don't think douches and feminine sprays are used at anywhere near the rate they used to be. I hope that our younger women and girls are able to understand that they don't need to douche.

37. I agree, and I think most women know that under normal circumstances its |

unnecessary. I'm not sure men understand that though. And when I hear the douchebag insult the negative view of 'women as rank' is packed into it.

35. Yep, I posted my rant up above. |

The fact that women think they actually need it concerns me more than the word. It's rarely necessary and should only be prescribed IMHO (like a Betadine douche for a serious bacterial infection).
