2. Ok, elshiva, here's a question for you:
If you were at the mall and saw Bigfoot grab Kay Baily Hutchison and stuff her into the backseat of a 1962 Ford Falcon and drive off, would you call the cops and report it or let it stand, thinking, "Hey, that's one less Republican hack senator to worry about" ?

11. The story behind the sigs is I love Doonesbury!
G.B. Trudeau is a genius. Ever see Tanner '88. Like watching a Doonesbury strip come to life, stunning!
Also, I think Kerry looked so sexy as a cartoon back then, don't you? Picked that pic off of a pro-Kerry thread somewhere. I love Kerry very much.Put him up there with Kucinich and my Dean avatar because I admire these Democrats for their leadership now. In many ways they hold up the best of the party, but they are NOT the ideal as in Barbara Jordan and Shirley Chisholm. Barbara Jordan SHOULD HAVE BEEN PRESIDENT AND SO FOR CHISHOLM! "Democracy the word is used so often...but this is not a democracy.." Shirley Chisholm

Kucinich photo is from his congress website. Apparently it was a comedy sketch.

17. I have too, hon, but I've read the whole series here you go:
Yeah, I think it was poking fun at Kerry's ego, but it was also getting his message out more. This was a part of the series.

It ended thusly....

meditate on that!

22. Bibliographic Information

These Kerry cartoons were printed in a Doonesbury book:

Trudeau, G.B. "The President Is a Lot Smarter Than You Think" New York: Holt, Rinehart, and Winston, 1973.

Do have that one? Very, very good.

that were published throught the late 70s and early 80's. I've read them over and over. My hometown paper refused to run Doonesbury on Sundays. Might corrupt the kids, you know. They ran the full color Sunday strip on Saturdays! Amazing. The same town tried to ban SNL from TV.

He must have known that John was destined to be a major player on the American politcal stage.

19. You know, I've not seen Tanner '88.
I was without a TV from late 1987 to sometime in 1991. I went through a big divorce, lost all of my pets, was homeless (for 3 days), found a new abode, quit my job, and traveled across the US and Europe before returning to the US, living with my mum for a bit, moving back to my town and finding gainful employment! I didn't watch TV and only saw a few films during that time.

I love Jordan and Chisholm! They were great women, great Democrats and great Patriots!

Cheers! :)
