I just watched Soul Train for the first time in 15 years |
|
I didn't even know it was still on anymore, but it has very quietly continued to be on the air for 35 years, still attracting quality performers.
I used to watch this show in the late 80's/early 90's, back when hip-hop and R&B was much better than it is today. I used to sleep in on Saturdays and watch WWF wrestling and Soul Train back to back.
Anyway, it's still a quality show, though my biggest problem is with the overall quality of R&B music today, not the show.

1. I used to watch it in the early 70s. It was great. The music was great. |

The clothes sucked. But the people dancing were fun to watch.
I wouldn't recognize anything about it today.

3. Soul Train was much much better than American Bandstand in the 70s |

4. It was better when Don Cornielus ( sp?) was still the host . |
|
And I like the old studio set from the 80's better . In my family , we watched Soul Train every Saturday . The train in the Soul Train intro would freak me out as a kid LOL .
