I didn't even know it was still on anymore, but it has very quietly continued to be on the air for 35 years, still attracting quality performers.

I used to watch this show in the late 80's/early 90's, back when hip-hop and R&B was much better than it is today. I used to sleep in on Saturdays and watch WWF wrestling and Soul Train back to back.

Anyway, it's still a quality show, though my biggest problem is with the overall quality of R&B music today, not the show.

1. I used to watch it in the early 70s. It was great. The music was great.
The clothes sucked. But the people dancing were fun to watch.

I wouldn't recognize anything about it today.

3. Soul Train was much much better than American Bandstand in the 70s
Soul Train was what the cool people watched.

4. It was better when Don Cornielus ( sp?) was still the host .
And I like the old studio set from the 80's better . In my family , we watched Soul Train every Saturday . The train in the Soul Train intro would freak me out as a kid LOL .
