This has GOT to be one funniest freeper posts EVER!
Ortho is promoting promiscuity and unsafe sex in young UNMARRIED women.

A commercial for birth control devices by OrthoEvra shows a young woman saying:

"My life goes a million miles a minute, so remembering to take the pill every DAY can be such a hassle. So I thought the weekly patch might be a good thing."

The problem is, this young woman is NOT wearing a wedding or engagement ring on her left hand's 'ring' finger but she is instead wearing a large EXTREMELY OBVIOUS ring on her NEXT finger (closer to her thumb) which typically indicates an unattached woman who is 'available' and 'on the market'.

This actress was encouraged, I.M.O, to flash her 'ring hand' many times throughout the commercial, including several close-ups with her left hand by her face. By comparison, this woman (who statistically would be right handed) never flaunted her ring-less RIGHT hand even once.

She was also wearing her watch on ler left wrist, which is another indication of her right-handed-ness.

The ad also shows a young woman doctor recommending the patch, who is also apparently unmarried.

Now even if you ignore the moral problems with this ad, the patch, because it offers NO protection at all against AIDS, should NOT be MARKETED towards UNMARRIED young women, especially those who are advertising they are 'available'.

The commercial ended with the actress encouraging young women of America to:

"Talk to your health care professional so you can be smart about your body, and smart about your birth control."

This story is an F.R. exclusive. The EDITORIAL is my own.

9. They get laid, plenty. They're just too ashamed to admit it!
In fact, I'd bet that that's why they're always thinking of ways to stop other people from having sex - because they've just gotten done doing "the nasty"!

I'll bet freepers cry themselves into a guilt-filled sleep after every orgasm!

17. The problem isn't that repukes aren't getting laid - it's who it's with:
sisters, neices, mothers, daughters, aunts, mothers-in-law, streetwalkers, etc.

So they think all sex is dirty and want to prevent everyone else from enjoying it.

2. Aside from the antiquated notions about UNMARRIED women, this person
might be way offbase about this woman's handedness (not that her handedness is in anyway relavent).

When I wear a watch, which isn't often, I wear it on my left wrist. And I am very much left-handed.

4. Some married people do not wear rings
or did that idiot forget that? Also, hormonal birth control isn't just used for birth control. It can be used for other reasons.
Another thought is that this woman might be engaged and is trying to find the right form of birth control for her marriage. Maybe she and her spouse do not want children immediately. Men don't realize that birth control doesn't kick in the moment you take that first pill. It has to build up in your system for it to work. If you took one pill and didn't use a back-up that night you have a pretty decent chance of still getting pregnant. An intellegent woman, even if she decided to wait to have sex until her wedding night, would explore her options for birth control before her wedding. She would want to know that she had found something that worked for her.
Of course, freepers can only think about promiscuity.

10. I was thinking about something...
Could one of the reasons that the right-wingers decide to write off birth control and whatnot as evil and promoting promiscuity and all that bullshit be because keeping birth rates high ultimately means that there will be more people and as a result more poverty (overpopulation being a cause of poerty and all)? Seems it helps reinforce the class structure to me. Maybe they just disguise this as moral outrage and all that shit.

I know there are plenty of people who genuinely think it's immoral, but my idea seems plausible at least, I think.

I dunno, just a thought.

Edited on Sun May-29-05 04:12 PM by VelmaD
but also what they're REALLY worried about is declining birth rates among WHITE women. They honestly don't much care if black or Latina women have abortions. But whit women just aren't doing their part to make sure we stay the majority. *sigh*

18. How does the poster know that the actress' right hand is ringless
if it is never shown? And what is the significance, anyway?

I also don't understand why the poster brought up the "apparently unmarried" state of the actress portraying the doctor. Is is immoral for an unmarried woman to practice medicine?

This is so silly, I'm wondering if this wasn't posted by a DU infiltrater.

I swear, they dissect every show, advertisement and movie to find the "hidden messages". Spongebob is gay, Scar (from "The Lion King")is a Nazi, Tinky Winky is gay, Ortho Evra wants teenagers to be sluts.

Why then are they not attacking Viagra, Cialis and the like? "Viagra wants men to be manwhores!!!" "Cialis is promoting male promiscuity". Apparently drugs used solely to allow sex to happen don't count...

The moral police need to get real jobs...they are really getting paranoid.

It really pisses me off that so many assholes think my sexuality (along with every other woman) is somehow their goddamn business. My theory is that the more fucked up someone's life is, the more they are willing to ignore their own problems and judge the lives of others. It's pathetic.

On a side note concerning the bc patch - after using it for a year with no problems, I suddenly started experiencing intense skin reactions to it. Weird, huh? Skin "irritation" is a listed side effect but I experienced more than just an irritation. FYI for anyone who is on it or is thinking about getting it.
