What music have you listened to this weekend?
Edited on Sun May-29-05 04:12 PM by mvd
And what CDs are you looking forward to?

Just one CD from my collection:

Mindy Smith - One Moment More (highly recommended!)

Also heard samples from the Wallflowers, Sugarland and Sleater-Kinney, and was impressed enough to order all three of their latest albums.

I put Ready 2 Pop by Miss Mary on my Amazon Wish List after hearing her. She's kind of the indie Avril. Love both of them.

Heard stuff from The Wrights, and haven't formed a firm opinion yet.

As usual of late, Toby Keith's new CD didn't impress me. I heard it at AOL's music website.

Am looking forward to these CDs:

Marion Raven - Who I Am (definite M2M fan - especially on The Big Room. Shades Of Purple was a little too chirpy vocally)
Wreckers - TBD (date moved back - argh! Really anticipating.)
Brie Larson - Finally Out Of P.E. (she's young, but good music is good music at any age)
Coldplay - X&Y ("Speed Of Sound" is a good single.. but a little too much like "Clocks.")
Foo Fighters - In Your Honor
George Strait - Somewhere Down In Texas (he's always reliable)
Trick Pony - R.I.D.E.
Shakira - Fijacion Oral 1
White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan
Fountains Of Wayne - Out-Of-State Plates
The New Pornographers - Twin Cinema
Sheryl Crow (Title TBA)

Among some others supposed to be released in 2005..

1. The new Spoon, Sleater-Kinney, Troubled Hubble and Mike Doughty.
All quite good.

I'm waiting for the New Pornographers, too.

6. It's different.
Lots of distortion, fuzz, etc...but other than that, lots of aggression.

Not my favorite of theirs, but I do enjoy it.

9. I like SK aggression
"Modern Girl" sounds like an exception, but it's pretty. Thanks for your feedback. :hi:

2. Right now I'm listening to Joan Baez sing "Ave Maria" in German.
It is truly a moving piece of music. I have also been listening to the Indigo Girls, Queen, The Black Crowes, and Big Mama Thornton.
