What Do I Tell A Friend Who Says She Is "Weaning Off Of DU"?
She has hit the wall.

Sees no more real hope of us fixing this mess. DU just reminds her of all of the problems that she sees no fix for. She has begun to find it all a bit TOO depressing.

She wants to head to Canada and certainly will as soon as she can. Who can blame her?

I'd hate to see her totally give up.

Hell, she turned ME onto DU!

Maybe I should set her free? I do know the urge to avoid the bad news.

What do you think?

2. Taking a break can be a good thing.
But there's no better place for getting news and discussion. A break can be refreshing though.

9. A sabbatical could be just what the doctor ordered.
If nothing else, her frame of mind should improve. A healthy spirit is what most of us strive for; ask her to keep in touch.

She just needs a break. They always come back. What brought them here in the first place might wane but it never dies.

11. Well, you could tell her to get involved in something offline
that matters to her. Doesn't have to be political, just something meaningful and something that contributes to the good in her community.

We sure as hell aren't going to change anything just be reading about stuff and posting responses on an online forum.

I thought that was what made people stick to the lounge only. I know that's why I'm here.
